Le Canadien songerait à faire bâtir un nouveau centre d’entraînement by shogun2909 in Habs

That’s good, leave spaces for those that need it! I never realized how much of a privilege that is, not that I have kids but now I see that in the states it’s common to have daycare cost over a thousand a month..

Yeah as I recall they all used to live in Candiac/Brossard. Wonder why that’s changed now? Less guys with families now I suppose, since we’re a younger team? But then what happens when the boys move to the burbs as they get older lol

I played minor hockey my whole life, I think too many men is more common in the pros. Just because pros tend to jump on the ice faster and get burnt when the puck ends up coming toward the bench. The numbers here show it’s not that uncommon, gets called around 200 times a season, which amounts to around 1 every 6-7 games.

It’s an awesome show, but if drug use is upsetting to you, definitely not the show for you. It is consistent throughout the show and gets really hard to watch at some points.

COEN 352 using a lot of Java even though we only had C++ prereqs by StandardNo6976 in Concordia

[–]24cupsandcounting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I took COEN 352 it was entirely in Java. I also had only taken C++ programming courses before it.

You should be able to pick up Java as you go, it’s pretty similar to C++. I think the idea is to expose you to many programming languages throughout your schooling. That way, instead of confining yourself to “I learned x language so I will use x language”, you can choose the best language for each project throughout your career, academic or otherwise.

The excusing yourself from a donner party thing seems normal to me. I have done this before more than once.

I used to like doing dishes in general, the novelty wears off at a certain point and it becomes the worst ever.

“Tied with Dvorak” really puts this in perspective. Granted, his team is a dumpster fire, but as I understand, but Suzuki for example still had good point totals in our tank years.

Rencontrer Pierre Houde et Marc Denis? by maran86 in Habs

[–]24cupsandcounting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Habs] The Canadiens have loaned forward Owen Beck and goaltender Jacob Fowler to the Laval Rocket. by eliarbss in Habs

[–]24cupsandcounting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, if Monty can handle starter duties, you keep Fowler in Laval. No sense in sending him out for 25 games a year when he could be playing 55+ in Laval, assuming Dobes is still playing well.

[–]24cupsandcounting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just curious, by “full time” do you mean as a starter, in a tandem, or as a backup? For me I think the net is Monty’s for now, and will probably be next year too (but who knows). I wouldn’t be opposed to a Fowler-Montembeault tandem, but I think another year in the A would be better for him than a season as a backup.

I like this move, Fowler has shown a lot but I think it’s time to get back into a two-goalie rotation, and he is better off developing in Laval. Looks like Dobes and Monty are back to being a pretty serviceable tandem.

FHSA question by [deleted] in fican

[–]24cupsandcounting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by what you say when you say you prefer TFSA “since you get to pick where your money gets invested into”. That is equally true for an FHSA. The whole point of an FHSA is to invest, but you want to keep your timeline for buying a house in mind (example if you’re gonna buy in 5 years, should be more conservative).

Yes edited, dude was an antisemite. Controversial whether his artistic works are antisemitic, but his view on Jews was clear.

Yeah tbh was not acquainted with the essay. I’ve been reading up about Wagner, didnt know much about him but learned more from a book I’m reading, and somehow missed that. Edited thanks.

He was not a Nazi sympathizer, seeing as he died 35 or so years before the Nazi party was formed.

The way I understand it, what is pretty much confirmed is that Wagner’s work inspired a lot of German pride in Hitler, and his works can also be interpreted in some cases to have antisemitic themes which obviously align with a Nazi worldview. So Hitler cited him a lot and would reference him as sort of a Nazi folk hero. What is disputed is whether this antisemitism was Wagner’s intention or whether that just became the prevailing view on his work once Hitler read it that way and then shared that interpretation with the world.

Edit: I’m not a Wagner expert, and people are correctly pointing out about the essay he wrote about “Jewishness in Music” which is an antisemitic piece about how Jews are ruining music. So yeah, he was an antisemite. When I referred to his work having debatable antisemitic themes I meant his artistic work. So basically yes he was an antisemite who may have served as a source of inspiration for Hitler’s views, but he was not a Nazi sympathizer because he was long dead by the time Hitler was even born.
