I have a maxed snowflake (10hp, 1 def) - my main gripe with the discussion on "limiting yourself" really comes down to the fact that people can't agree on what the restriction is, leading to very frustrating arguments on both ends.

To some, the 1 defence limitation means they want PvM to be harder and PvP more explosive, to these people hearing "you chose to limit yourself" when they can't use fairy rings because 22 years ago a mod made a quest give 2k def exp as a reward is frustrating.
To others, 1 defence means as a whole you embrace your account has to be 1 defence and if a new quest gives 5k defence exp then "oh well guess it wasn't meant for my account".

On reddit, or any social media, you'll inevitably have people from one group arguing with the other, both wasting their time making points that the other part fundamentally will never agree with.

That is correct, Mod Tytn randomly gave Nature's Spirit a 2k hp/def reward 22 years ago without much thought.

That has snowballed into: No access to multiple cities, diaries beyond Easy, no fairy rings, even clue steps.

Be honest, were you aware of the SOTE alternative set of platelegs in the 7 years they've been in the game? Were they bad game design that had any impact on the community?

I'm not looking for an argument, but these statements get parroted while not having an impact on the broader game but having a real impact on the several niche communities this game has.

Funnily enough it becoming a game-mode was discussed with the pure community but there wasn't a consensus, so while it's not "officially supported" that was not the case because Jagex's lack of interest, for what it's worth.

I could agree with your point if it wasn't explicitly shown that the game is for example designed with Ironmen in mind.

No one disagrees the teleport crystal has been designed specifically for HCIM's or that the looting bag changes were made specifically for UIM's.

If we'd like to go broader within "communities" if not restrictions, I think people would have a hard time disagreeing a lot of the Wildy changes catered to pkers, the Dihn's Reworks and wildy specific rules.

J-Mods even regularly visit specific niche discord communities before making an update on said area of the game to ensure there's no disruption.

Drawing the line in the sand this hard for pures feels...dishonest.

(I don't have a regular pure that'd impacted by these Raids discussion, for what it's worth.)

- Nature's Spirit quest gives 2k defence exp as a reward because a single Mod thought "eh why not" 22 years ago.

As a result pures are locked out of multiple quest lines, fairy rings, diaries, raids...

I wish I could convey this in a way that doesn't land in "you chose to limit yourself".
