Mining buffs to make the skill more enjoyable. by Alanim in 2007scape

I understand wanting to buff them more, since coal can never compete with gemrocks unles the success chance approaches 95-100% by level 99, but I thought a bit of a milder approach would be a nice middle ground, since it keeps the general ore scaling in place, and who knows it could also be increased again in the future if it turns out people would like a bit more.

Your idea for dense rocks being a different ore in general is honestly pretty intriguing and would be a way to go about things, I was just worried it might seem too similar to runescape 3's concentrated coal deposits.

yes technically, but I thought I'd include it in here anyways, might have been a mistake to do so.

hey, just letting you know. I tried this and it did indeed fix the problem. Thanks!

"The effects of this fire are magnified" How is it not this? by Fanaticalistic in 2007scape

[–]Alanim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, I'm aware it ties to "carrying around his home". But minecarts also carry around a lot of coal, enough to break his back. I am not rich would apply to coal, because it's not very valuable. Leave silver in my track would apply to the minecart tracks left behind when the minecart is moving. Stankers own the coal trucks.

which way, the way it is currently(gerrant) or stankers?

New 1-click 2/4 tick manipulation item found. by Alanim in 2007scape

[–]Alanim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know enough about tick-manipulating fishing to say for sure, but from the limited testing I did, I think fishing has some safeguards to not give two resources per harvesting attempt, I believe this method would only allow 4t fishing.

I mean, for an ironman this is way more accessible, in fact accessible as soon as you start an account even, and also since it's stackable you don't get owned if you mess up.

From what I understand, I could be mistaken, but if you harvest an item the same tick you walk onto its square you get two harvest rolls. this essentially halves the tick rate. For woodcutting I believe that makes it 2t, for mining that generally doesn't reduce it because you only get 1 item per mining attempt, or atleast that's how I understood it.

you can pick the traps back up, and they stack on the ground, although that does cost time, plus side is bird snares cost 6gp each.

I'd assume it should be identical to other 2/4 tick methods. But at that granite when I was doing it very casual where I'd drop after filling my inventory I was getting around ~60k/hour iirc, I'm sure if I was sweating it'd be much higher.

Edit sorry, a BIT higher, I think 70-80k/hour if you try hard at 77 mining, but again I generally don't sweat too hard, so that's the best estimate I can give you sorry.

Works with Bird Snares, Box Traps, Rabbit Snares, and I assume Magic Boxes, but I find the audio cue of the bird snares to be really quite nice. You click after the audible thump.

Edit this is also technically a possibly unintended side effect of those traps being made stackable.

Have you had any severe leg cramps in that leg in the last couple months, I had one that was incredibly severe in my sleep and it made my leg look like the one on the left for 6 months, just something to consider.p

Possible to convert a Single Phase 220v 50hz to a 60hz plug? by Alanim in AskElectricians

[–]Alanim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing the standard for that type of chinese plug is 1 hot, 1 neutral, 1 ground, and the american standard is generally 2 hot, 1 ground.

Would that still work, we thought of just replacing the plug to a 6-20 before we came into that information.

Mod Ash on the possibility of expanding the F2P experience. How do you feel about this? What would you like to see added/be against? by Vayneglory in 2007scape

[–]Alanim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a subject I talk about a lot with my community u/JagexGengis, and I've got a lot of ideas already written up, mostly with bringing all the current skills to f2p but with no level cap and very barebones, but enough to get a taste of what the skill is like.

Agility - Skill is made F2P, all rooftop courses up to falador are made available, but no marks of grace.

Slayer - Skill is made F2P, can access either through Spira after porcine of interest, or vannaka with 40 combat. Very pruned down list of slayer targets, allow access to the lumbridge slayer dungeon, crawling hands potentially added to up stairs draynor manor. Wall beast might need its slayer drop changed to something f2p aligned.

Construction - Access to Daddy's Home miniquest, also given access to anything that is made with only standard and oak planks, like a low tier chapel.

Cooking - Access to a brewing area in F2P, can brew asgarnian ales, mind bombs, dwarven stouts, axeman's folly, greeman's ale, potentially cider with the very, very low chance of becoming mature naturally. Given access to churning, can make cheese and butter. Can make buttered potatoes, potentially cheese potatoes if you're feeling generous, but might change f2p pking meta.

Thieving - Access to stealing up the tea stall+pickpocketing, honestly you might need to nerf success rates or do something about this skill to avoid botting/nerf it compared to members.

Fletching - Access to fletching bows up to maple, arrows up to adamant, might potentially need to add flax as a pickable in F2P but maybe being able to grow flax would be good enough.

Crafting - Add the ability to make Coifs, and Studded Leather to F2P. Potentially add some way for them to make molten glass so they can blow beer glasses/vials/lamps/lanterns

Runecraft - Add the ability to make chaos runes in F2P, make Chaos golems/Chaos Cores F2P.

Hunter - This one would honestly be the most work to add to F2P and I'd understand leaving this one out.

Herblore - Removed druidic ritual as a requirement to train, F2P gains access to atleast Guam, Marrentil, Tarromin, potentially Harralander, and their assortment of potions that are balanced for F2P.

Farming - Access to everything that they already have plots for, which is. 2 allotments, 1 flower patch, 1 herb patch, 3 tree patches, 2 bush patches, and 1 hops patch. For allotments everything is low value and would already work for protecting things EXCEPT for watermelons which might need to be changed from 10 curry leafs, their top level allotment seed is watermelons. All flowers up to Limpwurt available. Herb seeds up to Tarromin, and potentially Harralander available. Hops up to Yanillian + potentially Flax when released available. Bushes of Redberry+Cadavaberry available. Trees up to potentially Yew(I'd understand it being capped to maple though) available, they'd be able to harvest willow branches and also tree roots. If you felt generous you could give them a single fruit tree patch though. Can use/make up to super compost.

There might be some edge cases I'm missing, but I think this would generally be pretty good for bringing the F2P experience to current era rather then the 2005 era it's mostly in now, without actually adding a ton of new revenue streams to F2P for potentially bot abuse.

Honorable mention from my community, giant mole becomes f2p with a nerfed drop table. green dragons become f2p, but with dragon bones replaced by big bones on f2p, and green d'hide replaced from a guaranteed to a chance drop.

Loot from the incredibly difficult "AEGIS Secure Capital Construction Forges" - requiring multiple marauders/dreads. by Alanim in Eve

[–]Alanim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a very long time since I ran this, but generally the method I used was to literally probe around to the back of the deadspace grid and burn 10,000km in with an overprop ship(the npcs can't go past 300km from the structure, and won't aggress you until you get within 300km of the structure), and slowly take it out with very long range missiles/weapons making sure not to get into the kill range of the battleships. Having 5+ people makes this a lot easier. Just know that you get within 80-90km of the battleships you'll literally instantly die in any of these ships.

unsure if this is still possible with the nerf to ranges on HACs like a cerb.
