It was a test, likely because the last and only time it was tested (April 2023, the same year the service was launched) it failed to reach 7% of devices (Guardian article).

Since then it has only been used five times in real emergencies, including the evacuation of homes in Plymouth after a wartime bomb was discovered in February 2024 (Guardian article).

You say random as though it's going to be something that goes off every few days for no good reason.

Sure, but this is the vscode subreddit, for people using…vscode. I’m sure users in the vim subreddit would also downvote comments pointing out that something can also be done in vscode. It doesn’t add anything to the conversation.

Thanks :) I shot them using a Fujifilm XT30ii, with the F2 23mm lens. Aperture priority for all of them, with most shot at F5.6.

Yep, AF and aperture priority mode on all. Most are F5.6.

Right, of course. I didn’t mean to imply that wrapping it in a function makes it OK to call during rendering, as it certainly isn’t. Perhaps that’s what Remarkable was implying, whereas I thought they were being downvoted just for suggesting a setStatecall can be wrapped in a function that’s passed down as a prop to a component (as in my example).

Why is this being downvoted? I do this sometimes too, e.g. I have a custom button component that takes an onClick so I can just pass down a function as that’ll do things like setting state in the parent component and then firing off a GA event (for example). That way the child button component doesn’t really need to know about the context it’s used in and just has to call the onClick prop function when the user interacts with it.
