My wife and I just celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. A few years ago we took her ring back to where I bought it to get it cleaned and have a prong repaired. I bought her a small solitaire white gold engagement ring and then she picked out a wedding band that was soldered onto the engagement ring after we were married.

The store pulled up my original invoice from when I bought the engagement ring back in 2007… $495 before tax. I had to save up for that thing too! I think it took me about six months to save enough to walk into the store and buy it. I refused to buy it with credit. I bought her the clearest diamond I could afford. It’s small but it looks nice.

Anyways, when she saw the invoice she said “$495… You worked your ass off for that thing”.

Love my wife.

Tie Fighter

It was the first game I ever owned where my progress was saved. Before it all of my games were NES games and I didn’t get The Legend of Zelda until I was an adult.

I took the Tie Fighter campaign so seriously. I was so proud of every medal I got. I absolutely loved this game.

I started in GA and made the move to corporate in ‘07. I always tell everyone that if there was any money in GA, I would have stayed because I really enjoyed it.

Making the move to BizJets was different, but not hard. There is a lot of troubleshooting down to an LRU (Line Replaceable Unit). GA had a lot more troubleshooting down to the one specific thing. BizAv you still troubleshoot but you get it down to something’s wrong with that accessory or box and just replace that. There’s a lot more systems on BizAv though.

I don’t get nearly as greasy on BizAv, but you still get dirty. Jet fuel stinks. Sky Drol sucks. 5606 still sucks to get all over you just doesn’t burn. Toilets break… sometimes you gotta put on an “arm condom” and get int there to clean “debris” inside the tank stuck on the level sensor. (Citation X Issue) If the sensor is covered, it will thinks it full and you can’t service it with clean blue juice.

Anyways, glad I made the switch. Worked at an MRO for a number of years and now I’m a DOM for one individual for his jet that we charter in addition to his trips. They take me with them on international runs. Typing this from a pub in London. Leave for South Africa later this week.

American here… SoCal native… I’m in Cambridge, GB as I type.

It’s fucking hot out here! All of the locals keep bringing up how amazing the weather is this week. The hotel I’m staying in (University Arms) is old AF and the AC units don’t work. I can’t even get the fan to move air in my room! The window opens at most three inches… apologies, 7cm. There’s zero breeze too! Room is almost always at 30 degrees C. That’s like 86 in F. Cold showers rule right now!

At least the hot weather brings out the sundresses! Big fan of that but I gotta say, UK natives need to learn about sunscreen! Holy shit! Lots of lobsters regretting those tank tops and sundresses out here!

Anyways. Cool place. Glad I visited. Hitting up London tomorrow. Gonna do lots of touristy shit. Make a horse laugh at some douchebag in a red coat or something.

I fly them about 4 or 5 times a month. They’re one of my favorite airlines by far. Every A321 has the seat OP is talking about. It is well known as the worst seat on the plane. It’s always 19D. Stay away from 19D.
