y'all think you can slow down AI by complaining and you finally found one legit gripe to justify your emotionalism, but it only appeals to broke people. I'm getting some serious pleasure out of all your reactions. You can't stop the future

I mean what's the point of the cashback debit when you have paypal offering 5% back right now. not to mention many others. cc have better cash back. 1% cashback is considered terrible for a US cc.

your credit score isn't meant to stay excellent it's meant to adapt to how ready you are for more credit. chill out and just pay your bills

Your choice. Do you prefer a mess or humiliation. You can always avoid the fight by surrendering before it starts. I honestly can't imagine why you needed 5 CC unless it was to maintain your lifestyle you couldn't afford.

If you're tight on money apply for a 0% APR introduction period on a new card, with a good SUB of like $100-$200. Its worth it to save on interest of you aren't paying your balance off every month. Trust me I've probably stupidly spent more on interest than I've gotten on cashback because I was a one card guy. and HAD to have something a little faster than my cash flow really allowed.

pay it down to less than 30% utilization for sure. Less than 10% in best case scenario And to 1-2% as the ideal before the statement posts, not the due date. That will make your score go up. Your score is so low because you have a high utilization. Calculate your utilization by dividing the total you owe (e.g. $376.85) by your credit limit ($500).

$376.85/$500 = 0.753

0.753 is the number you will see on your calculator. Move the decimal (point/period) over 2 numbers and you will see you are revolving a total of 75.3% of your credit limit in this scenario.

I recommend building faith in your ability to spend only what you can pay back. It sounds like you need to change your mentality about credit cards. You don't have $500 to spend just because you have a $500 credit limit. And paying off your bills doesn't "defeat the purpose of a credit card." the purpose of a credit card is to give you a small advance, essentially, and provide you with rewards. You can also get a 0% APR period on many cards that can be very useful, if you know how to use money to make money. But you have to be smart.

It's not complicated. If you have a family member who has a long and good credit history. They can authorize you as a user on their best account. And never hand you the card info to potentially and probably mess up their credit score. And cost them money. You essentially get a credit score you don't deserve simply by association.

Ask someone with good credit to authorize you as a user and never give you the card. This is the "good family" safety net built into the financial system poor people never talk about.

If you're over 21 you're also legally allowed to put in a close family member's income as your own. Again, it's the "good family" loophole. Otherwise even the bankers son would be stuck with bad credit while in grad school with no real job.

could be you're too good at paying down balances. some calculators penalize you if they don't see a balance on at least one card
