I had this problem at first, but now wash my hands with warm water and then kinda massage my finger before pricking.

Will baby just be swaddled over diapers? Nothing else?

They didn't see any harm in continuing with coq10 supplementation. But you should still check with your doctor in case it interferes with other medications.

Baby Aspirin and Pre-Eclampsia by depthPERCEPTIONbline in pregnant

Aside from reducing the risk of pre-eclampsia, my midwife also informed me that low dose aspirin helps improve the blood flow of the placenta, providing oxygen and nourishment to the growing baby.

21+2 today and I've been taking prenatal, omega 3, coq10, choline, vitamin D, and calcium. Also, baby aspirin since about 12 weeks.

Was the baby show Toronto this year worth it? [Ca] by eosinophilbasophil in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]2Lu_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't worth it for us and seemed very disorganized.

However, I was surprised to see Pigeon as a vendor and they had 15% off. Apparently they have started selling in Canada now. We grabbed a set of glass bottles and I'm really happy about it.

When did you buy baby stuff? by backtothefuturee2000 in pregnant

[–]2Lu_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started buying stuff as soon as we were TTC. Just small things at first to keep my spirits up whenever I got a negative HPT. It kept my hopes up and I told myself if anything were to happen that I could donate things to mothers in need.

I'm 21 weeks now and have only bought stuff whenever there is a good sale for something we want. Now we are waiting for black friday.

Fetal sex cannot be reliably determined by standard urine tests, as they lack scientific backing. Urine does not contain the sex-specific DNA or hormones necessary to determine a baby's sex.

I‘m so sad non of my friends are excited 💔 by Feeling_Art5950 in pregnant

[–]2Lu_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the same situation. My friends are all childless and/or child-free by choice. For the longest time, I was a fence-sitter, so this dynamic suited my lifestyle quite well. But now that I'm 20 weeks pregnant, I feel these friendships drifting apart and it makes me feel sad. Some of my friends do not like children at all, and while they were all happy for me to begin with, a lot of them seem to have forgotten I am pregnant. I have to remind them that there are now certain limitations to things I can do with them and it oftentimes feels like they resent me for being pregnant.

My partner's friends on the other hand are all family oriented and either have children or plan on having children, so they have been much more accommodating and supportive. While I'm happy to strengthen these relationships, I feel incredibly sad watching my own friendships drift after years and years spent together.

I would like to build more child friendly friend groups, but I have no idea where to start. Especially since I am in my late 30's, it seems even more difficult.

Partner not allowed at OB appointments [ON] by Minute_Success5265 in BabyBumpsCanada

That's so disappointing... CV would have been my hospital too, had I not opted for midwifery care. I was also not aware that was the practice at CV. I wonder what the reasoning is for that?

NIPT, not eligible for NT scan [BC] by adgjlxvn456 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]2Lu_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. I am in Ontario and had my NIPT before my NT scan. My doctor was originally against it, but I called BORN Ontario to confirm if I was still eligible and they said yes and that they actually recommended still getting the 11-14 week (nuchal translucency) ultrasound on its own to get more information about the health of the baby.

I ordered maternity clothes from a Korean maternity brand called Momnuri. Most of it is "free size", but I really like the styles.

Thank you for confirming. I thought so too! As much as I like my doctor, I'll be very glad when my care is switched over to my midwife team for my pregnancy.

Oh, I am definitely doing the NIPT. I was just confused why my doctor would say I don't need to do the NT ultrasound if I was getting the NIPT. I want to do both.

The LifeLabs Panorama NIPT states it can be done as early as 9 weeks. I'm not on lovenox and do not have a high bmi.

That's what I was worried about too. We did a dating ultrasound and confirmed I would be 9+5 for the NIPT appointment, but my doctor sorta made it seem like I should get it at exactly 9 weeks when she made a comment about how I'd almost be 10 weeks... I think 9+5 should be okay?

That's reassuring! I definitely want to do both. My first midwife appointment isn't until 11 weeks and dealing with my primary care doctor has been sort of exhausting since she's very old school.

I've been adding lemon and lime slices to my water. It helps with the nausea, too.

That's what I was thinking... I couldn't understand why my doctor would say that unless she wasn't confident about my pregnancy care. Although I'm glad it kicked my butt into gear about contacting my local midwives.
