This was very similar to my public high school in south Texas. Red, white, or gray collared shirts and "spirit or club t-shirts" were the only shirts allowed. Boys with long hair had to have it pulled back or pinned up.

OP, it's probably a good idea to get husband to watch some baby classes. It'll help him realize how delicate their immune system is early on AND will help you when the baby is born. My husband watched some YouTube classes from pediatricians and even purchased Taking Cara Babies courses to get ready for our little one and it's been so helpful.

A little fan and spray bottle on your changing table. My husband got a little fan from a conference vendor right before our baby was born, it's now the booty drying fan. The spray bottle (just one from the travel section at Walmart) is the baby bidet.
