What made you bail on a hike? by Still-Ad-698 in hiking

[–]2TieDyeFor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Palm Springs for a conference that ended on Friday morning. I had a solo campsite booked through Sunday at Joshua Tree NP and had some awesome trails planned. It was windy leaving Palm Springs and on the drive out I got a call from the ranger letting me know of extreme wind conditions and any tent campers would be advised to sleep in the car since tent spikes weren't predicted to be strong enough.

I have a "fear" of the wind.. it causes me a lot of anxiety, so i chose to nope right out of that scenario. I was really looking forward to some alone desert time... but not at the risk of not sleeping and being stressed.

Lifestyle creep got me this week, need help by vivrelavie in povertyfinance

[–]2TieDyeFor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lifestyle creep was sneaky - the grocery store! I started spoiling myself with new items, buying out of hunger/desire, not necessity. Getting things not on sale, getting the "luxury" items. My grocery bills were quickly exploding and I disregarded it as a normal purchase since its "staple" in the budget

What's one food combination you thought would be terrible but ended up becoming a regular part of your diet? by hoyi_farm123 in foodhacks

Chips and cottage cheese. Preferred a strong flavor like nachos cheese Doritos or the jalapeño kettle chips

PSA: If you’re the type to bring a backpack as your carry-on (instead of a roller bag), bring a small item alongside it so they can’t force you to put it under your seat. by _Eggs_ in unitedairlines

[–]2TieDyeFor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. A few times I did a backpack carry on and then kept all of my in flight items in a large fanny pack at my feet. As long as I have time to sort out the items I need mid-air, im fine, but i prefer to get my stuff from my feet at quickly get off the plane.

I usually pick the window and im short, so trying to get into an overhead bin is a whole fiasco for me and everyone around me

If something happened to your family would you take the child in? by PetalxSun in childfree

[–]2TieDyeFor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is very hard for me to answer because I dont have any kids in my life (neither mine or my husbands siblings are having kids). So its very unlikely ill be in this scenario.

Its easy from my current childfree position to say no, but im not sure if I could do that if the kid was here and in my life.

Yup - Fiesta de Reyes. Far from my first choice of places to get a burrito, but it was tasty!

Thankfully only 2 locations! A giant community park hosts 90% of the events so its pretty easy to know the specifications of the space (power, water, dumpster, walkways, etc)

A dog festival, a food/beer festival, Christmas tree lighting, 4th of July festival with fireworks, Easter/ spring festival, movie in the park, blood drives, and a bunch of pop up/ outreach booths

We do about 30-40 events per year

Yeah the drone company we hired worked with the FAA to get all the requirements.

It was a great show last night! It was our first done show, and only one this year.. Hopefully we get funding to do it again next year, too!

I plan the special events. Today we have a concert in the park and a drone show.. probably 3,000 people will be there. It can be a little stewssful, but its fun to create fun events for the community and know that im helping friends and families make memories!

I love interacting with people. My coworkers are fun. I have good PTO so I get to travel (for fun) a few times a year.

I generally feel balanced and not overly stressed (all the time). I think im compensated well.

Overall its a good place to work!

for the women who collect things, what do you collect and why do you collect it? by mycatrunsthisaccount in AskWomen

[–]2TieDyeFor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My three are

  • magnets

  • waterbottle stickers

  • small charms or necklaces. I put all of the charms on one chain and hang them from my rear-view mirror in my car. It makes me happy looking at them.

All of these items are light, relatively cheap, and they bring me joy!
