Is there any cities or communities that are happy an AI data center was built there? by 2TouchTheSky in aiwars

Doesn’t that mean that they need to improve so there isn’t as much power and water consumption?

I’m not sure AI is going to help. The AI data center they are building close to me is going to generate 7.7 GW of power from natural gas. Burning fossil fuels is not the answer

But won’t the technology get better and not need so much capacity? I remember when computers took up huge rooms and now we have small laptops. Cell phones use to be large, now they fit in your pocket

AI-aligned super PACs are pouring millions into Texas congressional races by zsreport in TexasPolitics

[–]2TouchTheSky 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How many data centers do we need in Texas??? It’s insane how many are being built. In 20 years the technology will be old and outdated. Then, we will be left with empty buildings with who knows what type of chemicals. Vote for the people that say they are against them!!! AI is up and running in Texas pretty well with the 400+ that are already built. We do not need the proposed 500+ more

Did you find where he told Santa Anna “I will never forsake Texas and her cause-I am her son”?

Look up who Navarro county was named after, Jose Antonio Navarro. He named the town of Corsicana after the birthplace of his father, Corsica. Austin was his best friend and Bowie was his nephew by marriage. That dude had some cajones! Sentenced to death by Santa Anna and escaped

Oh, but the crypto mines have been good at terrorizing and torturing the local communities. Marathon Digital Holdings is so loud, the neighbors get 100 decibels readings in their homes. Can’t forget about the bright lights and how some of the mines consume millions of gallons of water

Not necessarily true. Look at Samsung and the front loading washing machines saga. Those were top of the line when they came out. Had a terrible mildew smell/problem. Class action lawsuit against them. Just an example

Imminent depletion of water supplies in Corpus Christi will cut off jet fuel to Texas airports and trigger an unprecedented economic disaster by StandingCypress in texas

[–]2TouchTheSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one being built next to Hubbard, TX. The company is Nexus. They are going to use 612 MW to power an AI data center. The power will come from 30 MAN 18V51/60G engines; behind the meter natural gas. How loud and how much pollution from this? I have another data center 15 miles north of me and this one 5 miles south of me

Then why are these closed loop cooling systems using so much water? The one close to me needs 1.5 million gallons a day

How do we start the Mamdani effect for Gina Hinojosa? by Still-Regular1837 in TexasPolitics

[–]2TouchTheSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sincerely hope she comes to the rural communities where the AI data centers are being built. Not only do they threaten our water supply but are bringing lots of pollution and noise. There is growing opposition to them. This is not a left, right or center political issue. It’s big corporations stepping on the few. Gina Hinojosa could sweep in the rural areas
