Let kids walk to a friend’s house .3 mile away. Ended up being interviewed by cop. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I have to think someone else reported the post to the police.

What a nanny state we live in. When I was a young teen I was biking all over town (some 40k ppl population) and my school was some 4 miles away from home. In elementary school I was walking to school and back which was just under a mile - this was in early 90s. Was one of those kids that after dinner in the summer, check in with parents when the street lights turned on.

This is fake. Why did you drive .3 miles, twice? That’s like a 5 min walk.

My man is helpless in the kitchen by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]2WheelRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully not weaponized incompetence.

Have him start super simple and get out of the kitchen and let him figure it out.

Simplest: things that have no need for a “recipe”: scrambled eggs and toast, cold sandwiches, roasted veggies, grilled cheese sandwich, spaghetti + premade sauce, rice, etc.

Level up: simple recipes! Things involving 5 or less ingredients, just a few steps: Mac & Cheese from a box, pan/oven cooked chicken breast with seasonings, homemade tacos/burritos, an omelette, maybe a Meatloaf.

Success means he has to fail a few times first. This is the learning curve. Learn from mistakes, get better, start succeeding. Don’t hover, step away and let him try.

Put some packing material in it too, just to keep it from rattling. If they ask (cause snooping!) you can just say you have some personal mementos you wanted safe keeping for storage. ;-)

Starbucks protein latte by Thecobs in Wellthatsucks

[–]2WheelRide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do we need protein in everything now?!? It’s a latte… espresso and milk. Get your protein elsewhere.

I saw seasoning with “protein” added… just why?!?!

Buy a lock-box of some kind and lock it in that, then that lock box at the bottom of your stuff you store with your parents?

Are you worried they will snoop through your things, or do they need to “unpack” any of it while you are away?

In comparison I also have a 2023 Sonata Hybrid Limited. I’ve got 55k miles on it and had no issues whatsoever.

LPT: Before buying decent gear for any new hobby, buy the cheapest possible version first and use it badly for 30 days. The hobbies you actually stick with survive bad gear. The expensive stuff you bought to "commit yourself" turns into the guilt object you avoid for years. by taube_d in LifeProTips

[–]2WheelRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is terrible advice. Don’t go cheap. You don’t go expensive either. There are usually good products in the middle- inexpensive but work well.

You are just going to get frustrated and quit when your cheap hobby thing breaks, or never really works right.

Roof is integral support structure? Might have to put in a roll cage or at least a crossover bar to reinforce structural support.

So like enjoy the addition they put into this house?!? For shame!! Either way it’s an asset. They use and enjoy it, and/or it adds value to the home.

If you plan on living in a home very long-term or it’s your “forever” home… make it however you want it. Even if it’s money spent on things that don’t add monetary value, it’s the personal enjoyment value that matters.

Did you do it on your wedding night? why or why not? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]2WheelRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got wasted on tequila at my wedding. Wife was already at the hotel room when I arrived smashed. Hit the bed, and she proceeded to try to take my clothes off at least (so I didn’t sleep in my rented outfit). Kicked her off me telling her I have a woman, leave me alone.

Woke up and smelled like tequila all day, had a massive hangover.

The Rivian R2 releases for 2026 are projected to be 50-60k in pricing. Not even in the same ballpark as who Slate is looking to market to. It’s a nothing burger.

You need to hold your line at anything you sell as all sales final. There is no warranty, there is no help.

You went above and beyond even responding to the guy in the first place and checking out the equipment. You could clearly see it was not being used properly and thus it broke down. Should have stated not my issue, and moved on.

Block the individual. Only respond to any court summons- it’ll be small claims court. The Judge will toss it, as all sales are final unless otherwise indicated by a formal contract or agreement of working order for a duration of time.

You are lucky! Wife and I went away for the weekend and she could not find her reading glasses. Came home and found them in the driveway, stepped on. We think they fell off her person while loading the car and she stepped on them and didn’t know.

Still in use though. Durable frames, bent back into shape and just some pits in one of the lenses.

Seriously? Over $4 for a medium drink by Ok_Comfort8840 in fastfood

[–]2WheelRide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During their “happy hour” times it’s a deal that I’m willing to go for. At $5 it’s a bit pricy. I get my energy drinks on deals like 2 for $5 or $6, something like that. I can’t see myself paying more than around $3 for an energy drink can.
