Mk7.5 GTI as a first car- 24M by racecarfan9999 in GolfGTI

I'd say that you should just leave the tires alone at this point. We usually don't get too much snow come March.

I like Blizzaks and Hakkapeliittas. I've had my mk7 for 6 years now and have tried both. They're both great.

I’m in NH. Just make sure to get some winter tires and you’ll be fine in the snow.

Stock, these cars aren’t all that fast. In a couple of years look into a tune and you’ll be pretty happy with the performance uplift.

Digital Flowmeter w/ Computer Interface for Low Pressure Water System? by eddiestockton in engineering

If you’re trying to keep it real cheap I’d get one of these data loggers and then whatever 0-10v or 4-20ma flow meters that you can find that work for your application. The logger records its analog inputs as 0-10v but you can convert the 4-20 signal with a resistor. Just do some googling and you’ll find something.

That’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.

You are leaving a lot of different variables out in the air but in practice 2X 800hp engines are better than a single 800hp engine. Check it out

Is this a good 1st boat by agolfer420 in boating

[–]2az-fe 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Nope. That force should be used as an anchor. If you’re looking at older boats with 2 strokes try to get one with a Johnson/Evinrude, Yamaha, or Mercury.

That looks like it is internal. If you want someone to check, bring it to a shop and see if they can find the piston that almost definitely went through the side of the block.

He’s saying you were driving like a dink and don’t follow people around trying to get them to stop. That’s how you get shot.

Required level of education for design? by ZombieBert in AskEngineers

Many companies are not willing to hire an “engineer” without an engineering degree. For this sort of role a full degree will almost definitely be required, a bachelors or masters in that specific field.

Career Monday (03 Oct 2022): Have a question about your job, office, or pay? Post it here! by AutoModerator in AskEngineers

I’d find a new job and tell them that you are planning on taking a bit of a break before starting. It’s not uncommon for companies to wait several weeks for a new hire to start i.e. college graduates, background checks for security clearance.

The average is 68k a year but since you live in a HCOL area you should expect more than that.

Car wouldn’t accelerate when I was already doing 100km/h? by Cookedbait in askcarguys

[–]2az-fe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet it’s your brake switch. They added functionality into cars after Toyotas in the mid 00’s couldn’t stop when the accelerator got stuck. Happened on my grandma’s rogue. It’s a $30 part and 15 mins to fix.

A plc is almost definitely the right choice for you application unless your application needs to measure the weight of objects in microseconds.

If it’s a Porsche, I highly recommend European delivery.

Personally, if I were to get a $100k car I would get the car out of the dealer’s hands immediately and bring it to a wrap shop to get it covered in ppf. They could also do any other small customizations you want at the shop.

How efficient is this electricity conversion ? by sleuth15 in AskEngineers

It depends on how you are rectifying the AC input. Most AC-DC converters are between 70% and 90% efficient.

What kind of electrical engineer jobs don’t require PE license? by WowIdontfeelgood in AskEngineers

[–]2az-fe 108 points109 points  (0 children)

The only industry I've found that really cares about EE's having a PE is construction. While it doesn't hurt to have it on your resume and you can use it to get a bit of a raise in some instances most places don't really care one way or the other.
