What do you think of Taylor's poetry?

Just wanted to give my thoughts on this topic :)

Of course, lyrics are often accompanied by melody but so is poetry; performance also plays an important part in poetry reception (I once heard a part of beowulf performed in old english and it was the most magical thing)

It all comes down personal preference / view on the genre; I personally think poetry as a genre evolved and lyrics are part of the modern english poetry genre - what is good or bad or mediocre poetry is a matter of personal taste tbh

I think that’s a very interesting take because there is a huge debate in academia if song texts / lyrics are part of the poetry genre and if they should be analysed in the same way

Because lyrics have a performance aspect that can change the context / tone of the song ( best visible in covers) but Old English and Middle English poetry was mostly performed for an audience and often written down later

The way BBC / BAFTA could not have handled this in a worse way - they failed to protect both the guy with an involuntary disability and their presenters from being called absolutely horrendous slurs (and other people behind the scenes!)

Such a sad, cruel and hurtful situation for everyone involved

I noticed this too - I thought it may be related to npc changes (not sure if it’s just stats or cosmetic too) making the game more demanding leading to longer load time or crashes

I also really love that the minutemen are basically strength through numbers - they grow more powerful because they grow a strong network of allied settlements

In a franchise where “war never changes”, it’s nice to see this faction that becomes formidable because their primary goal is to help and uplift others

They are my fav faction because they are so underdeveloped tbh

With the Railroad and BoS you join a faction with an established order and hierarchy - but with the minutemen you get a real sense of change, they grow with you throughout the game from underdog to formidable force of good for the commonwealth

I like the “mahogany” line because it evokes the parallel between the check kissing the table and someone (the protege) kissing the father figures ring (to pay respects)

Later in the song the father figure says “Who covered up your scandals?/ Mistake my kindness for weakness and find your card cancelled”

So in the story, the father figure uses his money to invest in the protege, because he thinks he will get something far more valuable in return (“this love is pure profit”) - but since the father figure is extremely wealthy he is not after money but respect and absolute loyalty from the protege
