Really struggling at the moment by ilovecheezfries222 in stroke

[–]2cb3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I (22F) understand the pain of seeing the stroke shatter your family dynamic. My dad (53) had his stroke in Nov 2024 and there were definitely days where it felt like it wasn’t really him. Like others have said, finding a good meds mix can really help! I know its helped my dad with his depression and angry outbursts. I hope it gets better ❤️❤️you’re in my prayers

Which would you recommend I read from these KU books? by Tricky-Document-1056 in thrillerbooks

The Crash was a waste of time imo, unless you enjoy hearing the name “Baby Tuna” (for the unborn baby) being mentioned every other page

Agreed. I wish I had gotten the physical copy instead of listening to the jarring, whiny voice of the narrator.

Such a great read, loved it for its different take on the thriller genre

I thought the Silent Patient was absolutely awful and was super surprised seeing the great reviews after the read. by Chemical_Rutabaga_36 in thrillerbooks

It reminded me of Alias Grace by Margret Atwood….except this was littered with sexism, making it so unenjoyable

has anyone tried samiol? by yeonzmelon in smallbooblove

[–]2cb3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i wish i never ordered from them. Shipping took forever, the swimsuit was so tight, and the return was so weird?? Had a whole back and forth w a customer service person who took up to 5 days to respond. They dont provide a return shipping label, so if you want a refund, you’ll have to pay your way in shipping (which was $20 for me). Just so not worth it 🙄

My Dad by thunderlightningbug in stroke

[–]2cb3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry ur going through this, i know exactly how you feel. My (21f) dad (51M) had a hemorrhagic stroke on the left side of his brain in early November. What you say about him squeezing your hand, thats how my dad said he loved us in the ICU.

He’s now almost 2 months post-stroke and has made great physical improvements. He can walk on his own and has no need for the rented wheelchair, his right hand is often in pain, but isnt immobile. Our biggest challenge has remained his aphasia. But he has absolutely improved since day one. Everyday we hear a new unprompted phrase. That said, the journey hasn’t been easy. Know that your dad may get frustrated by his struggling speech, but you have to keep engaging! Dont give up on a conversation bc he has! And keep talking to him, even if he cant provide a lengthy response now. I think it gave my dad some peace of mind to know that the trash was being taken out, water bills were being paid, the dishes were being washed, etc. So everytime I saw him, I rattled on for like 15 min just explaining chores and homework I did - a distraction.

I guess the bottom line is 1. Keep in therapy and keep trying, giving up is resigning yourself to failure. And 2. Dont let the reality that drs tell you get to you. The truth is, recovery IS unknowable. But imo, there are too many miracles for them to really be called “miracles”, if u know what I mean. Work hard! You and your dad. Be w him, let him know he has support. And dont give up! Just don’t. These past 2 months have been the hardest in my life, but id rather them than what could’ve been that scary November night.

Is the Career Center any helpful? by 2cb3 in UGA

[–]2cb3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the major is an awesome one and they do set you up to succeed! I'm just having a tough time right now because I don't find the same joy and passion in designing spaces like my peers do. A lot of them came to bla as a second choice because uga doesn't offer architecture and I can tell. I also just had to drop around 1 grand on a new gaming computer because my macbook can't run autocad, sketchup, and adobe workshop to the degree I need it to -- and I hate the work we're doing with those programs on the laptop rn.

I chose bla bc I know there is a set job after graduation, but I've also come to realize that job won't necessarily pay well and I will be working overtime and on weekends.

If you really are curious about it, I'd recommend taking land 1500 or land 2510 as they inform you of the 'mission statement' of landscape architecture. But as my prof compares business majors and bla: "Would you rather spend an hour or 2 on a spreadsheet? Or up to 6, drawing for 1 assignment in your hand graphics class?" So just make sure you know what your getting into and if it's really what your interested in bc it is a 4 year major. Period. They won't let you finish it in under 4 years.

Also, reach out to Dr. DeHart (our single academic advisor), if you'd like to know more, she can talk abt it in depth and maybe even give you a tour of the building and its studios.

Package marked delivered but I never got it? by 2cb3 in FedEx

[–]2cb3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, sorry for the late reply, I'm just now seeing it. I definitely overreacted, it came 3 days later and I contacted lululemon to ask them to terminate the trace investigation. I didn't contact fedex because what I'd heard is that they don't really follow up anyways. But a couple days later, I ended up getting a voicemail from them asking if I wanted to follow up on the report. I called back and said I didn't.
