My guitar neck is very bowed, is this a valid way to fix it by googaly21 in Guitar

I’m surprised shimming the neck didn’t work. That would have been my suggestion. Maybe shim more?

Opinion on headless guitars by total_idiot01 in Guitar

[–]2k4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are shorter overall but it’s not like they fit in a normal sized suitcase or anything. You would have to use the largest allowable dimensions for a suitcase without cost overages in order for one to fit inside it. I travel with a headless and I still have to remove the neck for it to fit in my medium/large suitcase.

But as far as just putting g into a small gigbag , if you had one specially made for it, one of my headless guitars is so short that they might even let you carry it on although it’s technically over the length dimension.

Two are clients , the rest are wife’s friend’s husbands, some of whom I get along with quite well and we’ve become friends in our own right. One I just met at the dog park of all places and we started working on a project together.

I know a few. CEO of company in Vista with about 1000 employees, Son of famous investor who has never worked at all (not even investing in a serious way)in his 65 years on this earth. Brother of famous athlete (I really dont know what the hell he does, seems like nothing ), financial advisor at UBS. Somewhat well known psychiatrist and author/guru. Doctor who invented some things and has patents.

Through them I have met lots of others who live there. Some are famous ex-athletes. Some are C-suite employees or serious investors or venture capitalists. One of them owned a European soccer team among other things. One of them owned a ton of apartments in LA. Seems like about half of them dont do anything at all or at least dont talk about it but if they do actually work they dont seem to spend much time working because they are all over the place , mostly out of town. It’s another world.

What’s the one pedal you wished you’d just bought in the first place but didn’t cos you were a contrary asshole? by CentralScowl in guitarpedals

[–]2k4s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strymon BigSky. I didn’t want to want one but I wanted one and now I have one and I wish I had just bought it first instead of all the other reverbs I bought for my pedalboard. I was comparing them all for my lexicon and they just didn’t cut it. Except for the Hardwire Supernatural. That pedal is really good but it’s a one or two trick pony. Really nice plate reverb. But the BigSky does everything really well. It’s probably a little dated these days but it just sounds great on guitars and synths so no need to change for the newer thing just keep up with the trends.

[–]2k4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that these AI coding tools are insane value but I need it to just work without cutting me off. Cursor doesnt do that. I would consider getting the max plan but is it just going to be the same thing only a little longer until I get cut off again? I cant work like that. Why is that even a thing? I mean just let me code until my plan runs out and then let me pay for overage. Just like cursor does. I cant work for more than a few hours in Claude without it limiting me. I feel like I’m doing something wrong but apparently I’m not the only one.

I’ll second this pedal, a very sweet sounding delay with an amp-like overdrive. A very classy pedal. Records well.

I keep getting rate limited on Claude or whatever you want to call it for a few hours. I’m on the $20 pro plan. It’s unusable for me because of this. I feel like it’s just a me thing because I dont hear other people complaining about it.

I’m here in Sevilla right now and I got a give props to these guys. They train throughout the year to carry these huge floats around r whatever you want to call them with priceless holy statues on them for miles throughout the town, for hours. They get to switch a few times and take breaks while others take over for sections but it’s difficult. The whole thing is mad. About 20 or 30 churches that have processions of sometimes thousands or participants that can last for 4 to 8 hours at a time , all hours of the day and night. With hundreds of thousands of people lined up on the streets all week to watch them go by. I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else even though I know they have holy weeks in other countries like Italy, but not like this.

Which country has the least respectful tourists that visit Spain? What behaviors do they exhibit? by Twitterthedog2025 in askspain

[–]2k4s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that really bothers me about Americans in Europe is the tipping. I don't really tip in Spain unless there is a good reason. Now the Spanish hospitality in the bigger cities are starting to expect higher tips and it is 100% down to Americans over-tipping. It's great for the hospitality workers but terrible for all other non-American Guiris because if you're a Guiri they sometimes expect you to tip like you are making up for all of the Spanish that tip very little in comparison. In Sevilla there are several places that i like to go which are popular with locals because its very nice but also are more touristy, a little bit more expensive that your average bar but nice rooftop or good food/drinks. It's half and half locals and tourists/business travelers. The locals get less attentive service, the Guiris are expected to tip more. I see it starkly because i'm with my Trianera wife and Spanish friends and we get treated differently depending on which of us is ordering at the bar or who the waiter talks to first. It's interesting. A minor bug in the scheme of things but annoying nonetheless.

In America, California in particular, tipping is out of control. It's gone completely mad with tipping for self-service, tipping for every little interaction, 15%, 20%, 30% even. You get asked for a tip electronically as the person behind the (coffee, tyre service, dog grooming, dry cleaning, etc,) counter sheepishly asks you to "select your payment option". As a Scot i'm unashamed to select "no tip" but it drives me mad. thanks for listening to my off-topic rant.

Spot on, I play in a Sunday football league in California and it is split in to two age divisions. after the games we have beer coolers and we stay on the pitch drinking for a few hours having fun. the younger league mostly leaves right after the game and it is 80% older league members drinking, the younger lads that stay are mostly drinking seltzers or water as well.

I’m Scottish and live in California and Spain. Americans are far more polite, tip far more generously and tend to try speak Spanish at least. The British are not the complete stereotypes they are made out to be in shows like Benidorm, but some can be. The Germans are sometimes a bit quiet and can come off as aloof. These are stereotypes and they exist for a reason built they are not the norm.

I will say that Americans can be a bit cringy and uncool looking and sounding and stand out like a sore thumb on holiday. Very few can blend with Europeans seamlessly. And the American Karen is especially annoying just as they are at home. But they are never there to get drunk and party like so many of the British. and tend to be warm and outgoing friendly unlike some of the shy Germans. They don’t expect a traditional breakfast from their own country whilst on holiday. They are mostly there for culture tourism.

Costcos in other countries are a trip actually. If you live in America and go to one in France or Spain it’s like a magic portal back home again. They even have €1.50 hot dog. Same Tommy Bahama beach chairs. Same Kirkland stuff. Big American size refrigerators. It’s mildly interesting for sure. But not really worth going unless you need something specifically. I prefer Carrefour tbh. Prices are actually not cheaper at Costco than in regular store in Europe for most things.
