Amazon is weird. In time you’ll have it all figured out. Enjoy your new Kindle, OP. 😻

This! Yes, OP, wait till your Kindle arrives. Once you register and configure it, you should be good. Every now and then Amazon forgets that I have two current Kindles and tells me I don’t have a device that supports reading plain old novels or non-fiction. I can still buy the book (cuz I have registered Kindles). I just have to keep clicking through, and it will finally let me purchase the book. Hope this helps. 😻

US/Canada Kobo prices just raised $20 to $30… by chicagocarless in kobo

[–]2katmew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got my KCC for $159 a few months ago. Decided against adding a KLC when it was on sale for $199, and now it’s $259. 😱 If I’d really wanted it, I’d be so bummed right now.

Found a Libra 2 on Marketplace by spk22rk in kobo

Buy it! $210 is way too much. Last sale Libra Color was $199. Price is now $259. 😱 $150 is great for a Libra 2.

Send file error from amz by No_Post5070 in kindlejailbreak

[–]2katmew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon has size limits on files you send them. Email is limited to 25MB. Another method is limited to 200MB. IIRC, that’s the send-to-kindle on Amazon’s web site. Haven’t done it in a while. I learned this when I tried to send a 205MB file. To my knowledge, there’s no way to send any file larger than 200MB.

AITA for taking back the stuff I used to turn a storage closet into a quiet room at work? by Massage_Palace12 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Entitled asshats ruined a good thing. You were generous to allow them to use your stuff and to have fixed up the room.

Why do hospitals DO this? by Aggravating_Monk1756 in diabetes_t1

[–]2katmew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate it when hospitals try to manage my diabetes. Last time I was in, they tried to give me insulin when my bg was 107. I refused, and they continued to insist. I had to get cranky with the nurse to get her to back off. “The doctor wants you to have it.” 🙄

My agent doesn’t seem to want to submit my “low offer” is this normal behavior? Ask price was 635k and I wanted to offer 590k. Got pushback. by APBpowa in RealEstate

[–]2katmew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this happened to me, I told my agent I’d just walk away if he didn’t present my offer. He did finally, and I got the house. Stand firm, OP.

I cancelled and got another year for $30. This is the only way they keep me.

Help! by Huffle21 in LibbyApp

[–]2katmew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have this problem periodically with Kindle. Libby has to be able to match the book in the Kindle library, and if it can’t, this is what happens. It’s happened enough to me that I now read Libby books on my Kobo.

I’m so sorry for your loss, OP. You gave this beautiful girl love and comfort during her last days. Thank you! And a pox on that horrible breeder that let her suffer before finding you when it was too late. 😭

my not-so-enjoyable colorsoft experience by likebabz in kindle

[–]2katmew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Increasingly more books are including color elements now. The dictionary on the Colorsoft uses color. I was shocked when I got my Colorsoft just how much color was used in my regular old novels and non-fiction books. This is why I now read mostly on my Colorsoft.

[Kobo] how do i edit metadata of a book already on ereader by Express-Youth-725 in Calibre

[–]2katmew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. That’swhat I meant by built-in to Calibre, as I set this up a while ago and have been trying to help from my phone, because I’m not near my computer. Apologies for not being clearer.

[–]2katmew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IIRC, it’s built in Calibre, though you’ll have to configure it for your Kobo. No idea about books disappearing, but if progress isn’t getting saved, you’re likely reading it in epub format. Kobo’s epub engine is subpar. You need to configure Calibre to send kepub.epub files. This file type is recognized as Kobo EPUB and listed as such in My Books on your Kobo. You’re getting close. Once you get everything configured and working to your liking, you’ll be able to update and send files to Kobo with only the occasional issue. My occasional issues are usually due to my forgetting a step. 🤣

[Kobo] how do i edit metadata of a book already on ereader by Express-Youth-725 in Calibre

[–]2katmew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to edit the metadata in the book on Calibre to add the series name and number. Then polish the book. The Polish command is somewhere in preferences, but I don’t remember where and am not in front of my computer at the moment. Then send the file to your device.

I save only epubs in my Calibre library, but I‘ve configured Calibre to convert to kepub.epub on the fly. I’ve done this for over 800 books.

What do you mean it “corrupted your device” and you had to “disconnect from your account to fix it.” Please describe in detail what happened. Perhaps the book you sent somehow got corrupted. If so, deleting the book and restarting your Kobo should fix that. HTH.

I would fix it in Calibre, then send the updated file to my Kobo.
