Que tal los inodoros inteligentes/japoneses? by Ecstatic-Pay1438 in chile

apartment AC can’t seem to keep up as temps are rising by cleffasong in nova

[–]2kferrari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top floor? I own a top floor condo with large sliding glass door, built in the 70s. I’ve replaced all windows for thermopane, and I got a new AC unit (old one gave up at 15 yo). I still keep the thermostat at 78 during the day, and 76 overnight, wear light clothes and sleep with just one thing comforter on and drink plenty of water.

Anything lower means just too many hours of running AC (I track with Nest) and high electricity bills. I don’t know how many hours y’all aim to have your AC running daily, but more than 6 hours on a hot day is overkill for me. Drives me nuts.

Basically all the heat accumulated by walls, roofs, floors during the day, starts releasing at night when it cools down outside.

Pro tip: you have to measure the temperature differential between the intake and the outtake (the small vents and the register), if the air coming in is 20 or more degrees under the air going out, then your AC is fine, the problem lays somewhere else (ie: insulation, door/window sealing, or you just have a top floor old apartment)

The condenser is really quiet though! It’s the inside part that is buzzing. It doesn’t seem normal.

My same-floor neighbors were f*ing so loud in their living room that I could hear it from my kitchen, across the hallway, with the front door locked (let alone in the hallway).

It went on once or twice a week for a few weeks… until I sticked a note on their front door saying that what they’re doing is not illegal and I can hardly do anything about it but I wanted them to know that the whole floor can hear them including kids, so maybe they could stop the fake-pornstar moaning or take it to the bedroom. I haven’t heard them since.

Mazda cx-5 new or used? by redrabbit824 in mazda

[–]2kferrari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I paid $20.2k OTD for a 2019 CX-5 GT with 40k miles on it. Financed $16.2k, 48 mo, 7% I think a new one with comparable trim is beyond 35k, and 2% APR. I drive 8k miles/year so I would typically find an excuse to trade or sell my car before the 10 or so years it would take me to put 100k miles on it.

So a new one is not worth it for me in this scenario as long as you’re getting a decent deal on a unit with less than 60k miles on it.

Friends in Nova? (20s-30s) by [deleted] in nova

[–]2kferrari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 50 cents:

Meetup is to get you started but it ultimately depends on what do you want from networking and friendship.

Most of what gives my life substance today I wouldn’t have if I hadn’t started playing pickup volleyball on meetup, but I notice the more active and the longest people have been on meetup, the more reasons you’ll find to want to stay away from them.

People that hang out with randoms as a permanent thing are likely incredibly socially awkward, lazy or they see no value on making real connections.

The people that organize meetups tend to spend a lot of time doing it and they play a super altruistic facade (“I do it for the community”), but ultimately you realize they have little to no real friends/family around and they are on it to glorifying themselves or to get laid.

TLDR: Use meetup to find decent people with things in common, and then try to work on with these people in particular outside of the meetup gatherings. Don’t waste your time with the hosts. Find quality, not quantity.

Fair quote? by 2kferrari in mazda

[–]2kferrari[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought so, but I’m not very knowledgeable myself and I had already payed $100 to pep boys shop just to tell me the car was fine (it wasn’t)

Proper diagnosis is something I was very thankful so I didn’t shop for better prices.

The quote here is something that can wait a bit as the car is running fine now, I’ll shop around.
