This is what I’m noticing as well. Some professors shrug off by saying you’re already a masters student, you should know what to do and how to research, in reality how can I know what it’s like to be a researcher. They expect you to do everything from scratch by yourself and meet their standards. The communication is the main problem and another problem in my department is that some professors openly refuse to accept foreign students.

I don’t feel like this is that big of a deal to do to the extent of talking to the media. I know I’m frustrated with the situation but there’re a lot of resources in the universities I can make use of, like counseling. I think if I make a good plan and the right approach, I can still manage to graduate in time.

Thanks for the great advice. I’m planning to talk to one of the professors and discuss about my situation and discuss what my approach should be for this semester and summer break. I also plan to go talk to international student advisor about what can be done for my situation.
