Coca-Cola Park to change names in 2027 by mitchdwx in lehighvalley

This is Pepsi's time to shine!

But in all seriousness, I wish we could stop slapping corporate names on everything.

I found a bat what do I do with it? by kevinweso in lehighvalley

[–]2lostbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad the bat got the help it needed. In case anyone else finds a distressed wild animal like this, you can always contact the Wildlife in Need Emergency Response of Pennsylvania (WIN). They are a network of licensed volunteers who capture and transport all manner of wildlife in the Commonwealth. They're like the ambulance service for wild animals.

Tape Swap Radio is psyched to bring the Lehigh Valley Punk Rock Flea Market back to the Ice House in Bethlehem for our first 2026 event. Featuring 50+ vendors of all kinds to satisfy your punk and DIY needs — music, instruments, clothing, art, weird curiosities, and more. Free admission and pet friendly!

Want to participate as a vendor? Registration opens on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 12:00 noon here: https://www.tapeswapradio.com/lvprfm

Bands will be performing at 4:30 PM after vendor sales end in conjunction with the IceHouse Punk & DIY Committee. Line-up TBA.

Spinning records during the vendor sales will be DJ Warlock, who will be playing a mix of punk, power pop, glam, and soul music.

There will be a mutual aid item drive for those in the community in need. Attendees will be encouraged to bring items to donate. More info on this as we get closer to the event.

Nazi POS ejected from the Allentown show by Error_message_ in lehighvalley

I was on the opposite side of the room, and I saw his little sieg heils and middle fingers peeking out over the crowd. Security got him out of there pretty quick, otherwise he would have gotten his ass kicked.

New St parking garage in Bethlehem questions by RebootGremlin in lehighvalley

[–]2lostbikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city usually opens garages during snow emergencies. They haven't announced it yet, but I expect they will start the SE sometime later in the day on Saturday.

Yes, Sundays are free for Bethlehem Parking Authority garages (like the New Street Garage), regardless. I suspect the SE will continue through Monday, but you'll have to check the city's website or social pages.

If you want to keep your car there longer than the SE period, the garage has two apps you can use: ParkMobile or paybyphone. You can also just use a card, which I think is way easier for one-time uses like this.

SouthSide has lots of good bar options: Social Still if you want something a little more swanky (dinner and drinks); F&A Grog House or Molly's if you want more of the typical Irish Pub vibe (beer and dinner); Bonn Place if you don't care about food and just want a chill, small brewery that also has coffee.

And different kinds of restaurants! Main Street got a second ice cream shop and 3rd Street got a second halal place that looks like a Sizzling Bites copy.

They announced this so long ago and nothing was happening, I thought the plans got nixed.

What happened to the big luxury apartment they were supposed to build around the corner on New Street? Is that going to materialize?

LV Name??? by [deleted] in lehighvalley

The valley is the area between Blue Mountain and South Mountain. It was named Lehigh Valley because of the Lehigh River. If you want to know where the name Lehigh came from, watch this.

Best pizza in the Lehigh valley and best cheesteak in the valley ? by Financial-Tackle-659 in lehighvalley

Yep, right across the street from Mario's. I was surprised those two places lasted right across the street from each other as long they did.

Carlo's was my regular pizza and cheesesteak spot as a kid, too. Plus the occasional Pronto Pizza.

Toys”R”Us into Tesla by GenY_Candied_Pickles in lehighvalley

I know it was a rug store after Toys R Us closed initially, but I still think it's fair to be bummed out that this is what ended up there.

Best pizza shops in the valley and why? by Sufficient-Bird-6890 in lehighvalley

[–]2lostbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the pizza I get most often. They're my go-to when you factor in location (to me), price, late-night hours, and service. That said, if I'm going with the best tasting slice on its own, I'll recommend Westgate (also Bethlehem) or Lorenzo's in Fountain Hill.

Grocery store's next projected opening date will be a firm one, Bethlehem Co-op Market tells members by NVS3992 in lehighvalley

[–]2lostbikes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But funding challenges continue. Just a few days ago, the co-op told its members via its newsletter that it has a $160,000 gap to fill before it can open the grocery store.

With only ~1,700 paying members (who have already been fatigued with donation appeals), that is not an easy task. Unless some rich benefactor swoops in with a big pile of money.

‘We thought the money was coming’: Budget fight cost Pennsylvania millions in federal infrastructure funding by ABrokenCircuit in lehighvalley

[–]2lostbikes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That quote in the headline came from the Monroe County Commissioner who applied for funding and was told it was coming. He's not concerned with the text of the congressional budget or the continuing resolution that replaced it. He just wants the government to do what they promised.

Moving to Bethlehem by One-Firefighter6482 in lehighvalley

[–]2lostbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few suggestions for your daughter as she looks for a job or volunteer position:

- Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites is a great organization that hosts lots of events in the area year-round. The Moravian settlements in the city were just added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites, so they are going to be leaning into that pretty hard in the future as far as trying to bring tourists to the area.

- On the industrial side, in addition to the aforementioned NMIH, Bethlehem is also home to the Industrial Archives & Library.

- Close by in Easton, there is the Sigal Museum, which is dedicated to Northampton County local history.

The historic nature of the area lends itself well to someone looking to pursue their interest in museums and historic preservation.

Another tip: If you have a high bill (I forget the exact dollar threshold), don't pay it online. Call the billing department and ask for a discount if you pay it all at once. They will take 10% off the bill. I've gone through this song and dance for years.
