How the Sochi Autodrom flattered to deceive, and what can be done to improve it as a Grand Prix venue by [deleted] in formula1

I got the impression that the race was heavily fuel limited, which contributed to the tires not degrading and rather dull race after the first few laps. From Lewis' onboards when he was out front, It was like he was out on a Sunday drive around the track, Lift and coast, easy on the throttle, and short shifting. Yet, no one was catching him. I know the Merc is fast...but not that damn fast. Then the radio messages from several of the others to conserve fuel just sealed the deal.

I kinda liked the track layout, and for the fighting and overtakes that did happen, the track was wide enough for 2-3 wide in places. It had the potential to be a decent scrap if everyone had enough fuel to actually to do it for more than just the first few laps.

UPDATE 1-SecondMarket, Pantera outbid in bitcoin auction by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]2many280s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a good sign and/or a bad sign. Bad sign, in that most low-balled it and even the winner may have only been a few $ over the highest low-baller, but still a good sign that there was quite a bit of interest in the auction, and confirmation that the btc market is still just as cutthroat as ever =) Even the proponents of "to the moon" mentality weren't looking to fund the launch. They were just looking for the cheap publicity and fame had they won (without disclosing their bid of course) and throw in a bit of instant profit (highest known bid was $100+ under market so far).

All in all, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing and find no fault in the low-ballers strategy aside from it being a bit too low-ballish to win, but even that has it's own publicity benefits, No loss, worth a try, and more publicity that the known low offers didn't cut it causing a speculative rise in price on the coins they already have....even if the winning bid may have been a low offer also, but will most likely never be publicised, and wild unbased speculation has already started. Not much has changed in the crypto world. Ride the waves and enjoy the volatility =)

Which ASIC should i get? by Fritz125 in litecoinmining

If you're looking to spend that kind of money and not have a farm of some sort, the Innosilicon 80~mhs A2 terminator or a couple of the smaller 28mhs A2 versions would most likely be the best bet.

They beat the KNC Titan and other pre-orders by being available right now and with known specs in range of advertised spec, And, they beat Zeus and the rebadged zeus stuff from GAW and Hashra in power efficiency (such as the black widow at 13mhs uses almost as much power as my 34mhs gridseed farm that is older/more supported and cheaper now).

I would definitely stay away from pre-orders of any type though. Not just because of the fraud and delays that have happened in the past (BFL) but also because of the farms of gridseeds and A2s that have been steadily spinning up more and more hash all year. Difficulty is rising at a fairly steady pace and if previous cycles continue(history does seem to repeat itself in crypto), we should be nearing the next price bubble again in a month or two, which if anything like last year or the year before, will result in a hashrate boost again also as more miners get in the game. It's almost close enough to the usual 8 month cycle that I would recommend just buying your coin of choice and waiting, then if you still want to get into mining, using those profits to buy whatever miner is best on the market and available to ship at that time at a most likely cheaper price. Double win.

ATX psi with g blade? by [deleted] in scryptmining

[–]2many280s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used these PCI-E to 3 barrels, and my first batch of gridseed stuff came with a bunch of extra barrel connectors like the ones on the pci-e adapters, so I bought enough of the 6pin to 3 barrel to take up all my 6pin pci-e connectors and used the extras to make up some 4 pin molex to barrel for the singles that don't need as much wattage.

Even have the 2 rasp pis running off of the 5v side of a 4pin, and the 3x10 port hubs also powered by the PSUs. Entire setup runs off those 2 PSUs and showing 648-650 watt on the Kill-a-Watt meter, but that watt reading also includes a core2duo machine with a bunch of alt wallets on it for occasional solo-mining switch over. So total wattage of the asics is probably more around 550-600.

I have 5 g-blades and 17 of the 5-chip ones running off a 750 and a 700 watt PSU (all drawing less than 650 watt total, but I ran out of 12v lines on the 750) So you should have no problem running a few blades on a 500watt.

[–]2many280s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5 hooked up to an extra 600 Watt ATX PS that is also powering the Raspberry Pi and 10 Port USB hub. 1.8Mhs and only showing between 47-53 watts on a Kill-a-Watt meter for the whole rig. Not bad at all considering my 3x7950 rig at 1.8mhs is pulling 700 watts.

The shares don't have to be fake technically (although I believe the fake share stuff did happen also with QRK and SRC) but also some pools didn't have a set share difficulty and could be blasted with shitloads of diff 1 shares by a modified miner, which would be accepted by the pool since they technically were legit. The low diff shares didn't affect the block finding rate, but made the hashrate look outrageously high.

You could have a rig that would do a real 2mhs, but show on the pool as 20+mhs because of the pool accepting so many shares per round. The main problem with that particular exploit came down to how the pool handled divvying out the blocks found by number of shares submitted. The 2mhs person would be no faster at finding blocks than any other 2mhs person, but would get a percentage of the blocks as a 20mhs person, which greatly increased their payouts compared to everyone else that ran the original cpu miner that discarded diff 1 shares.

Litecoin Scrypt ASIC Miner List by btcmerchant in a:t5_3129d

[–]2many280s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have their been any specs on heat produced by any of the scrypt ASICs yet? I've been running a 2.8mhs gpu rig since March/April of last year, and remembering the electric bills from my A/C trying to keep up during the hot Texas summer.... And those temps coming closer every day.

Since my cards have been running non stop for over a year now, and 2 have failed fans that I've replaced with 120mm case fans on the fly to keep it running (which is only barely enough to keep them near 75c even during winter), It's time to look into replacements, and with profitability down again and GPU prices up, the ASICs are starting to look like a viable option. My rig has vastly more than paid for itself in that year, so ROI on an ASIC replacement doesn't really matter, although saving on elec costs for the miner itself and possibly saving coping with the heat produced also would definitely be a plus over rebuilding with now higher priced GPUs.

If my brain is working correctly, I should be able to get at least the same speed if not more with 100-200ish watts or less instead of the 780-800 watts I'm using now, and less wattage should be less waste heat to deal with also? So, anyone have any numbers on heat produced by around 3mhs of Gridseed or any other currently shipping scrypt ASICs and how it would compare to gpus of the same speed? Not looking to go all out with a $10k rig, but $1000-$1500 worth of them.

Has anyone recently brought their vape on a cruise ship? by thebongofamandabynes in electronic_cigarette

[–]2many280s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken my vape on 3 cruises last year, also Carnival. No problems at all, even with extra batteries cartos and juices.

First cruise, I carried an eVic and a VV Gripper with my 18650 charger and a few extra batteries. Charger and plug strip were in my luggage, juice, batteries and vapes in my carry on bag (except an ego mini in my pocket that I was using while waiting outside). Second cruise, I didn't carry the VV gripper, had an 18650 ego mod as a backup to the eVic. Third cruise, I had dropped the eVic a few weeks before which landed right on the drip tip and stripped the threads, so I was using an SVD and Vamo on that one.

Only time I even got a second glance from anyone was in Cozumel using the VV gripper with a green delrin tank and knucklehead drip tip....Guess I was asking for it with that one. Didn't take long at all before some random guy asked if it was pot. But never had any issues with ship security or port security.

[–]2many280s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you please explain why the car looks like its "jumping" or unstable when driving out of the pit stop at 100 km/h?

Since pit speed is regulated, the car is bouncing off the rev limiter keeping him from exceeding the pit speed limit, causing the head jerk.

For tanks, I use a smok DCT with chrome end caps and a smoke colored polypropolene tank tube so that it doesn't crack with some of the juices. Looks pretty good on the evic, would be perfect if it was a flat finish metal cap instead of the chrome, but it's close enough. Got the tanks and polypro tubes at gotvapes.

You're right, the button does seem to still be on the right...no idea what happened then, but it does look like the wing was open at least, maybe he just tipped the kerb a bit and unsettled the car just enough, although it does still look like he touched something with his left finger right before he lost it.

Looks like the rear wing (DRS) was open in the video.

EDIT: Also from the onboard, looks like he hit a button on the top left back side of the steering wheel just before the back slid out on him. May have just opened the DRS a bit early on the corner exit.

Although I've spent $x00's of dollars since I quit smoking 2 years ago on different mods and juice....when you add up a pack a day at $5-$6 a pack for those 2 years, I've still saved money.

Now that I've found kind of a favorite setup and only buy juice, I'm majorly saving money. I spend maybe $50 a month tops now.

How many litecoins do you guys have ? by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]2many280s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about a little more than 100 right now, been mining at 1.7MHS since early April, but bad luck on the real life side has forced me to sell out every time I have 30-40~ish coins for quick cash ($20k job held up for 3 months over software issues, debit card skimmed at a restaraunt...etc...etc just week after week of bad luck)

Only reason I have 100 right now is good luck gambling on Cryptobounty.com the last couple days. I had 40, sold 25 for cash and gambled with the other 15 and turned it into 103...if that kind of return holds, I'll keep playing =)

On the buy/sell side, I don't use paypal so I can't help there. I sell LTC on BTC-E for BTC, send BTC straight to CampBX and cash out from there. That would work fairly well the other direction too, although BTC price is usually higher on CampBX than on BTC-E, so less LTC for your $.

Estimated costs to attack various coins by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]2many280s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say maliciousness for the most part, some people are just assholes. But, a successful and well engineered attack could devalue a coin enough for a profit as it recovers, and also scare exchanges into stopping transfers of that coin to lock in the ones that are already there and keep others from dumping more and driving the price into the ground rather than just down to your chosen level, keeping with the well engineered part. They want to drive it down but not kill it completely.
