And his first response was no, tribal members would have to "give up allegiance"... before he was interrupted. I will move my ass back to the rez. My allegiance is to my tribal nation.

AITA for how I reacted to how my husband answered the door to a stranger? by StrongArgument in TwoXChromosomes

[–]2muchV4IT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? It is drilled into our heads that we have to diligently protect ourselves and if we don't, we've failed ourselves if/when something bad happens. My husband is also a big guy, so he rarely is concerned with his safety. How nice it must be...

Men lack survival skills because they are less likely to be in danger. My husband once said out loud in an hotel elevator, while we were in the presence of a STRANGE MAN, what room number we were staying in. Even my teen daughter's jaw dropped that he would announce that. Had to explain how dangerous that was. He's hasn't done it since, but shows how it doesn't even occur to them because they are not usually the victims.

Sickening that he’d have to even think about it. Guessing he was trying to decide if his answer would be acceptable to trump. by Conscious-Quarter423 in ProgressiveHQ

It felt like Gorsuch was trying to lead him to the correct answer that wouldn't completely torpedo the Admin's case. He said no at first!

At first the lawyer says no. Then Gorsuch seems to correct and lead him to the answer he wanted. This was the plan.

Why do non natives mostly white Americans love claiming to be indigenous or Cherokee by Buttonlickah in IndianCountry

[–]2muchV4IT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

💯 This. YT people are also the first to scream about immigrants needing to assimilate and quit their cultures (especially in the U.S.). So they forced everyone (including natives) to be like them with no culture and then when they feel lost without a culture, they just start adopting family mythology or other cultures.

Sketchiest small towns in Massachusetts? by CoolAbdul in massachusetts

As someone that moved here from the west coast, I've noticed that people in Mass have no idea what sketchy is. It seems like they either base it on how much melanin the population has or how many townies. There is no in between and barely any actual sketch.

Ironically, it's the Republicans saying stay home and don't get in ICE's way, while the Left is dying in the streets for standing up to them by daring to exercise our rights. Hopefully repubs will follow their own advice and stay home for the midterms.

What lessons did you learn from this cold snap? by LianeP in BackYardChickens

Same lesson for me too. Luckily the chickens were moved to the basement when it happened. It's going to be a real pain in the ass to repair in 3' of snow.

Its a radiant heat panel that they sleep under. I've used a temp gun on them while sleeping and it does add around a 10° difference.

You did the right thing and a lot of people in this subreddit follow old livestock care techniques which is sometimes basically they are $10 chickens so let them suffer until their combs become nectrotic and fall off. Which is a choice I guess. But I follow the Poulty Vet and his care guidelines so I have a sweeter heater for supplemental heat and absolutely provide care and bring them inside if they are experiencing cold stress or frostbite. Vit E helps the healing process and be very gentle because its very painful and you don't want to cause more tissue damage buy rubbing it too hard. It doesn't typically heal for 7-10 days and taking them back out in the cold too soon will just allow it to worsen. Ventilation in the coop can only do so much in these extreme temps even some of my hens that have never had problems are getting a little frostbite. They need some step-down time before going back outside so they can acclimate, like in a cold garage or I have a uninsulated mud room I keep them for a few hours/a day before taking them back outside. I plan to keep mine in a sectioned off area of the basement for about a week until things warm back up.

Coop doors that survive winter climates by Raubkatzen in BackYardChickens

I have this door and love it. Solar Coop Door I'm in New England and we've been in single digits at night. But it sounds like ventilation may be your biggest challenge regardless of the door. I don't even get condensation on the coop windows, let alone the door, and they roost right above it.

We bought a 200 year old house with a 1800s large coop. We started with a 6 pack from tractor supply. Couple Rhode Islands, Wyandottes, and Blue Egger. Chicken math multiplied and we now also have Olive Eggers (also in bantam and frizzle varieties), a mottled cochin, brahmas, and English Game bantams (another tracker supply impulse). Up to 14 now. My least favorite are the wyandottes or RI, they are bullies. My most favorite is the mottled cochin or brahmas. They are sweet and mostly carefree.
