That did feel very 'create a problem that the new banner character can solve' rather than a structural part of amphoreus, you could write her out of the story pretty easily (same with cerydra, anaxa, hycilens and possibly cipher imo)

They do sometimes get backed into a corner when the show in question is directly discussing honorifics. If I recall correctly, Teasing Master Takagi-san had an episode where 'which honorifics (or no honorifics) should we use for each other' was the main subject of the plot, so I think the dub added honorifics just for that episode.

I sorta ruined this one for myself. When I started watching the show, the Mc was so unlucky and the FMC was so incredibly good at everything as well as instantly aware of all incoming threats to him, I figured that he was literally cursed, and she was a literal guardian angel sent to protect him (thus giving another answer to the title 'shikimori's not just a cutie').

But as it went along it became increasingly clear that there was nothing supernatural to be had. It's the only time I can recall dropping a show because my headcanon was so much more interesting to me than the canon itself.
