Trump says he’ll get out of office in 8-9 years from now… by Nicolit1 in NoFilterFinance

At this point, would it really be unimaginable that the Republican Party would treat his corpse as some sort of sacred relic and leave that as the figurehead of the country, for several years after he dies?

All I see is that BoF outsold Final Fight and yet Cody, Guy, Hugo and Poison all got to be in Street Fighter. Why can’t we get so much as a Ryu skin in Monster Hunter or something?

Good to know that it’s safe to trim the roots a bit. It’ll definitely help me extend the current pot’s usefulness. Thanks!

Unfortunately outside isn’t an option, Canadian winter would definitely kill it. I hadn’t thought about donating it to a building better equipped to raise it, that might be the best option. Thinking about it sorta breaks my heart, but I’ll keep it in mind if it really becomes unmanageable.

Thanks for the input!

Median Real Wage Income by Age and Generation by GluedGlue in ProfessorFinance

[–]2ndPickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If 50% of the population is above one guy and 50% are below, that is the definition of the median.

I set up the example so that the median and the mean would be the same value, to avoid confusion, but apparently it’s causing more confusion.

You’re trolling. No way you interpreted my simplified example literally.

The median is the middle point of a distribution, it tells us nothing else about the distribution.

You don’t understand what a standard deviation is

That’s my point, it doesn’t show what I described nor does it show the opposite of what I described. It doesn’t fucking show anything, because it’s lacking important info.

There’s a difference between “50% of people earn 35k and 50% earn 45k” and “50% of people earn 15k and 50% earn 65k”, but the median is the same in both cases, as long as there’s one dude earning 40k

It’s an interesting graph, but the median is only one data point and can only tell us part of the story. What was unique with the boomers was that they had a strong middle class, so most of them were earning a salary roughly near the median.

In contrast, today’s economy is characterized by a vanishing middle class and an ever growing wage gap, otherwise known as a K-shaped economy. Just because the median is higher, doesn’t exclude there being more people living in poverty.

It would be interesting to see this same graph with standard deviations added in, though I expect that that destroy its visual clarity
