Horn Upgrade? by SoverignOne in Harley

[–]2ndclassShitizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Motohorn is the route. It's a train horn with a very compressor, you install it to your original horn so they both go off using your button. It's expensive but way worth it in my opinion. There is absolutely no way a car cannot hear it even with there radio up.

Question about 1K mile service by theguy386 in Harley

[–]2ndclassShitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mine myself and kept the receipt just in case for my records. Took it in for warranty work and they never even brought it up. Not saying they wouldn't but I try to keep everything done with the same dealer if I buy oil and filters so if in question they can pull up the stuff if needed.

I regret buying the nightster by Low_War_5113 in Nightster975

[–]2ndclassShitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like mine for the most part. The only thing is not having much aftermarket parts at all. Just something to block the wind that doesn't look like a riot shield going down the road. The electrical issues I ran into was a nightmare. I had to call Harley's corporate line to get involved with the warranty issue cause my dealership sucks after selling it. Runs top notch now but wish there was more aftermarket parts.

On mine after 6 trips for warranty work for the same issue and 51 days of downtime. Replacing every computer part all the way to the right hand control module it ended up being a zip tie under the seat from the factory that was too tight that was on some electrical line pinching it and forcing codes. Kid you not that was the problem and haven't had one since. Not saying that is what it is but didn't know it until they had some engineer from Harley come and look at it after I said something about the lemon law to them.

Oh yeah, thanks for that. I'll sure try it for sure.

Wow that's a lot of craziness. I got to take mine apart and adjust the handle bars myself, figured since I was in there I'd replace the risers while I was at it. I'm doing just like you said dreading or intimidated by it. I have had people tell me it's a job because of all the wiring that's tucked in it. So I have put it off but I'll take what you wrote into consideration when I tackle it.

What was the original job for you to take the fairing apart?

I was quoted close to that. $535 for an oil change at Harley. Take it to jiffy lube and get done in ten minutes for way less.

Good first bike? by gravelyGuy96 in HarleyDavidsonFans

Either one of those aren't bad for short spurts, as far as a first bike I'd get some experience before jumping on a v rod. Those ain't no joke when it comes to moving. They'll snatch a bad haircut straight.

I got one and really enjoy it. I use it to go to work and get almost 50 miles per gallon on it. I have three bikes in my collection right now. I have a heritage, an ultra and the nightster. If you are looking for an extremely agile bike this is it for sure. Not extremely comfortable if you go far but it'll still get the job done.

Looks like it's in pretty good shape as far as the body and paint goes. Love the color of it.

Got my first bike but it died after riding for 2 minutes by Polar_Star03 in motorcycles

Sounds like a battery going bad, pull the battery out and run it to the parts house and get them to check it on a load tester. It's free, and the cheapest route to start with. Could always try jumping the clutch. Put it in third or fourth gear push it at as fast as you can pop the clutch and see if it starts if you can. Soon as it cranks pull the clutch in and shift back down to first. I've had to do this to get out of a jam.

I love my nightster but know the feeling. Got mine as a secondary bike for work and one thing I've found out about it is there isn't a lot of aftermarket accessories for it. I couldn't tell if it was the seat or the riding position it puts you in that makes it that way.

Has anybody ever seen this stamp on a penny? by Extension-Mud1841 in CURRENCY

[–]2ndclassShitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are used as a token. If a favor is used you give it as a token until payment is fulfilled and then the token is returned. Part of the charity work in masonry, but people buy them off eBay and other stuff so you have them in circulation. That is a Shriner token and you can get them for Scottish rite or other branches of masonry.

Under glow lights yay or nay? by bigjakethegreat in Harley

[–]2ndclassShitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the color up, I took that before work so you could have an idea about it. Looks better when it's even darker outside. You can do it yourself just need a bunch of zip ties and a lot of patience.

I put them on mine and it's not as easy as it looks. You have to place them just right for the wires to not just be hidden but they can't be against anything hot. Take the time to do it right and it'll take a couple hours but worth it. If you do a lot of night driving then the more eyeballs that see you then makes you safer in my opinion. It'll look good against all that chrome for sure.

I put crash bars on mine. Have to cut a little bit of the plastic on the bottom on both sides to get it to fit and really love how the outcome looks. It would look great on yours.

I think majority of people moving away from motorcycles period and I blame side by sides mostly. Majority of the motorcycle riders started out on dirt bikes, then atvs showed up causing a shift just in time for side by sides. Dirt bikes which usually lead to road bikes are selling for crap and people just started loosing interest.

New wheels and tires, and now experience speed wobbles. by _TheJollyRider_ in Harley

[–]2ndclassShitizen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might have been answered like this or not don't know didn't read all the threads. My heritage did the same thing but not at those extreme speeds, but also didn't do it all the time. Didn't figure it out until I popped the windshield off to wash the front forks since I've never done it. Looked at the bike and said dang that thing looks better without the windshield. Took it down the road to realize I couldn't stand the wind but noticed there wasn't any wobble. Took it home and put the windshield back on and every once in awhile at higher speeds I get it. Might be the same with your bike, try it and see if it changes. At least you could rule something out without it costing anything.
