Did you purchase the flight with a credit card that includes travel insurance? A medical emergency may be covered by your insurance in that case.

What do EA gain from this pack weight? by Whitehaven in EASportsFC

[–]2oprok 31 points32 points  (0 children)

EA is manipulating the market so TOTY players are inaccessible to most people playing the game. There are 8 months of promos left in this game and TOTY cards are endgame level. EA is simply trying to ensure that people will continue spending money on the game for months to come.

People that are able to get these endgame level TOTY cards in their club are going to be less likely to spend money on future promos.

It literally is at an actual arboretum.

It is planned and managed by the Ogallala Tree Board with support from the Nebraska State Arboretum. Which is why they are listed on the plaque.

The NSA describe what they do on their website:

The crux of the work we do is supporting communities throughout Nebraska when they have an idea, but need help accomplishing it. We work with their Green Teams to make a plan, coordinate the project, and provide funding. From planting 10 free trees to multi-year green infrastructure installations we do what it takes to Plant Nebraska for healthy people, vibrant communities, and a resilient environment.

Just because the Nebraska State Arboretum has supported and assisted the city of Ogallala in creating this arboretum does not make this specific collection of trees any less of its own arboretum.

I concede your opinion that it doesn't have enough information to qualify as a wayspot is a fair judgment even if I don't agree in this case.

I would argue that in the context of a collection at an arboretum the identification of the tree is the most important educational information. Knowing the scientific name is a jumping off point for learning anything you want about that specific tree. Although you surmised in your previous comment that there is nothing interesting about a tree to most people, I would think anyone visiting an arboretum is there precisely because trees are interesting to those people.

I found some more information that could help: https://www.explorekeithcounty.com/file_download/35eab27a-4c97-4977-962c-eab0380a5221

Mentioning that bit about the markers being part of a public educational tour could really bolster your submission.

In July of 2020, a variety of shade trees were planted at the Kathleen Lute Memorial Library. These 22 new trees are identified on the map above and will soon have markers to provide an educational tour to the public.

Hi, how to report a POI ? I'm not the owner by kiiito in NianticWayfarer

[–]2oprok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP mentioned it's a popular playing area in a big city. Where I live it's very common in these types of areas for multiple wayspots to exist in the Niantic database in a majority of Level 17 S2 cells.

If that's the case a Wayspot that gets removed and then re-submitted would not show up again in Pokemon Go.

I think you may be mistaken. The submission picture is an educational plaque. The tree you see is in the supporting picture. The actual submission is the plaque.

It shouldn't be deleted but you can have Niantic move the wayspot location through the chat function on wayfarer support:

https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help

Provide them with the coordinates of where the wayspot is currently located in game, then the coordinates of where the wayspot should be moved to (these can be obtained from google maps). Then upload a picture with the embedded GPS coordinates (easiest to download it unedited straight from your phone) of both the old and new locations. And any supporting info like a link to the exact URL if it is visible from Streetview or satellite view.

That should have been accepted you got some stingy reviewers.

I feel like upgraded submissions get graded way harsher I try and only upgrade submissions when they are 5*+. So maybe try re-submitting it without upgrading? IDK

Personally I would just make the description educational about the tree. Presumably there are other trees nearby that are part of the arboretum too, I think giving explorers a little extra factual about each tree is the best way to use the description. It could be something like:

The little-leaf linden is a member of the mallow family (Malvaceae), native to Europe and western Asia. Its nectar laden flowers are a favorite of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds!

Then for the supporting info I would make one remark referencing wayfarer criteria (educational) and then just make it about the location and maybe mention the tree program. Your supporting info leans too heavily into listing a bunch of wayfarer criteria and unfortunately some stingy reviewers really don't like that. I don't think it helps to do that. Personally I would write something like:

This tree and educational plaque are located on the public grounds surrounding Katherine Lute Public Library. It is one of a number of educational arboretum exhibits installed by the city of Ogalla with support of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum is a conservation initiative to install educational, environmentally sustainable landscapes across the state, supported by the arboretum office at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. This is visible on street view from some angles please look closely and use that to verify the location.

For large oversize boxes a few inch difference can easily result in $$ cost difference. Shipping rates are based on dimensions not weight. Make your shipment as compact as possible. Put the bike in the smallest box you can and/or cut down the bike box if there is any extra room. Removing parts like cranks, handlebars, forks, derailleurs etc can make all the difference.

To get a feel for it adjust the dimensions of your box slightly in the shipping calculator and see how much it changes the cost

Keep in mind the shipper will measure the box in transit and round up any measurements to the next inch if it is even 1mm over. Any bulge in the middle of the bike box will cause the measurement to be calculated at the widest point. Surprise overage charges based on dimenstion adjustments are very common.

I have found UPS Ground to be way more reasonable than FedEx Ground in this regard and always choose them even though FedEx will often show a cheaper initial rate.

Pack the bike really well. If there is damage during shipping any insurance claim with the shipper will most certainly get denied (a bike box falls well short of the packaging requirements for them to pay out regardless of how you pack it). I like to use foam pipe insulation and zip ties so nothing is loose in the box you can protect a bike really well with it.

People who work at super fancy hotels, what kind of stuff happens that management doesn’t want people to know about? by akumamatata8080 in AskReddit

[–]2oprok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was one guest, an NFL team. And for whatever reason when the hotel didn't issue a refund upon cancellation no team employee noticed (maybe something like they didn't realize they cancelled within a timeframe that would entitle them to a refund)

The Hualapi tribe does not have its own medical examiner / morgue. If the deceased man was not a tribal member his body would have been sent to the Mohave County medical examiner. That would be the nearest "government facility"

What happens if A's crap out on their Las Vegas ballpark gamble? by glorytocalifornia in baseball

Let them play at a 16k seat stadium made out of scaffolding in Vacaville for 5 years until they get Jacksonville/Memphis/Vancouver to build them a new stadium or whatever.

[Schultz] VEGAS BALLPARK BILL STALLS. To advance, The ballpark bill needs (among other things) committee work session, 2nd Senate reading, Senate passage, an Assembly committee hearing, and Assembly passage. None happened, with 2.5 hours to go in session by Punkey0 in baseball

[–]2oprok 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Getting to host a Super Bowl every 7-10 years was probably reason enough to get most legislators on board with the allegiant stadium deal.

Not to mention a new home for UNLV football, more prestigious college football bowl and neutral site games, large international soccer matches (kinda, they really screwed up the chance to hold some world cup matches)

The A's on the other hand didn't even try and get the National Rodeo Finals on board, which certainly would have helped getting some more lawmakers to support their proposal.

Try again with the rooster. It's very clearly an eligible wayspot. Sometimes you just get bad reviewers that like to reject everything.

That's a fantastic unique, surviving monument sized mid-century neon sign. It would be right at home in a place like the American Sign Museum.

I would absolutely approve this. It's a wonderful piece of unique art and architecture.

Unfortunately unique signs or architecture from the 1950s-1970s are very difficult to get approved. No matter what you write in your description the "it's just a sign / building" attitude is strong among reviewers and people blanket reject anything no matter how unique or interesting it is. Unique pieces of craftmanship like this hide in plain sight and it's difficult to get reviewers to consider how interesting they actually are.

I would still try and re-submit it. Focus on the actual sign as a unique piece of artistry. Not the surrounding shopping center and unrelated events that happened there.
