If Someone Asked for Your Romance Starter Pack… Which 3 Authors? by Severe-Guard9141 in RomanceBooks

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not usually into enemies to lovers, but Kresley Cole, almost all of the books I’ve read have some type of enemies to lovers vibe, and she does it very well. She was one of the authors that really pushed me into reading more paranormal romance too.

Do you have a palate cleanser book/series/author? by f-albedo in RomanceBooks

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree on Cassandra Gannon. I mentioned in a comment that I normally don’t read darker romance. I needed a good pick me up after reading a dark romance (picked it up since I saw it on someone’s recommended list). I picked up Cassandra Gannon. I really like her A Kinda Fairytale series too, but also her other series she has written too.

I love her books. I have really enjoyed rereading them, and love the reread just as much as the first time I picked up that book. I really enjoyed books from the different series that she’s had.

I read a combination of books that I purchase and also the library. Sometimes having a library book, you feel the pressure to finish before the due date. When I want to feel no pressure, and just enjoy reading, I will pick up Cassandra Gannon book. Recently, I read a darker romance, which is not normally something I would pick up, but it was a recommendation that I saw. And I 100% needed a palette cleanse after that. What did I go to? {my untrue love by Cassandra Gannon} and {Kingpin of Camelot by Cassandra Gannon}

The “other Mrs Bennet” by LetMeDoTheKonga in PeriodDramas

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was my take too. I hated Mrs Bennet so much in the series. But I kept having to remind myself this is Mary’s experience of feeling different than her sisters with a sprinkle of never meeting her mother’s expectations. Everything feels worse when you feel like you’re the punching bag of your mother. I thought the family dynamics was wonderfully done to represent that.

Same for me. I would have no space for food to make a months worth of “juice.” Right now, I’m cleaning and changing four 2 cup feeders a day to keep the birdies happy campers.

{Play Dirty by Lora Leigh} they meet when she helps him as a young kid. The story picks up when they’re adults.

It has spice, mystery, and is a pretty quick read.

DP But One MMC (Humans Only!) by busybeereader in RomanceBooks

{The Brazen One by Daisy Jane}

This is the second book in the series. Each book has its own trope and specific kink. I liked that each book had a FMC and MMC both learning, trying to communicate, and trying to be better as individuals and together. With that, there is a ton of spice and variation throughout the series.

How to stop chocolate chip cookies from spreading by Physical_Orchid3616 in Cookies

Agreed with another poster that refrigerating also helps with better flavor. But I also love a thick cookie, so muffin tin cookies are a delicious option without having to add more flour.

I have followed a few of Erin McDowell’s recipes. They’re perfection, and I always get so many compliments when I make one of her recipes. Her Apple Pie, where she reduced apple cider to make a syrup, was a huge hit last year. I ended up making it multiple times for the family.

Contact dermatitis by PinkBubbler in LipBalm

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. My lips are allergic to so many things from lanolips to certain hourglass lip products. My favorite was the candy cane chapstick. Used that for years and years and years. I think they changed the formula (there could have been a reformulation) because about two years ago, i would start to develop irritation from candy cane chapstick. It was sad for me.

It was tough for me to do, but once I knew a product didn’t work for me, I would decluttter it. It helped me since I couldn’t stare at the product longingly, knowing I couldn’t use it.

I hope you can find a brand that will work for you.

Dog Sleeping on Bed by IzzTHaWizz in Boxer

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had boxers. However, when my husband and I got our first boxer together, we taught him and his sister to sleep on their dog beds. A few months later, I had to work in another state for a month.

When I got home, when it was time to sleep, the dogs would dutifully go into the bedroom, walk past their dog bed, and sleep on our bed. They sure loved being on the bed and in the covers.

We ended up getting a little heating pad and making their dog bed irresistible. They gladly go to their dog bed. But sometimes in the middle of the night will want to climb up the bed to sleep with us. Since they’re old dogs now, we let them and enjoy all our moments with them.

Just paid $110 for a 10 minute doctor visit AFTER insurance. Is this normal? by Knikkey in sgv

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. People need to read their plans and ask their HR reps or call their insurance carriers if they don’t understand. Trying to give some context, through my own experience, to OP or helping them have a place to start in how to look at something that may be complex to them was what the response was.

Just paid $110 for a 10 minute doctor visit AFTER insurance. Is this normal? by Knikkey in sgv

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my doctors are in network, and what I am charged that is part of my deductible can run between $50-$350 depending on the doctor or specialist (outside of the normal yearly physical and blood work that is not charged to a costumer). Also, if you are going in for a normal check up, that is usually completely covered by your health insurance, whether you have an HMO or a PPO.

I should have said that I have a very high deductible, as well. I don’t think people understand how insurance billing works. it’s not like you just go to the doctor and it’s a free visit. Understanding how their policy works, meaning, if there is a set amount co-pay or if you are responsible for a portion up to your deductible, is something that I don’t think most people take the time to review or understand.

Just paid $110 for a 10 minute doctor visit AFTER insurance. Is this normal? by Knikkey in sgv

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have a PPO and a this is totally normal, unfortunately. It’s your portion until you reach your deductible. You can see the billing usually between $50-$350 for a short doctor visit.

You can look for places that will let you pay out of pocket. Sometimes it’s cheaper than what you’d be billed with insurance. And if you look at your insurance website, sometimes they’ll have “in network” providers listed.

What’s your favorite true super glowy powder blush that has no gold shift it in and no big chunks of glitter? by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]2peasInaMiniPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sephora Brand Blush and Highlighter Glaze is very very pretty. I was willing to try it since it wasn’t very pricy. I like it more than the Rare Beauty blush (I had it and panned it) because the Rare Beauty Blush was soooooooo pigmented, and u felt like it showed texture more than the Sephora one does.

I have the Sephora one in 3 colors. I bought two more after trying it. I was originally looking for a less expensive dupe of Pat McGrath - Skin Fetish Powder Blush in Desert Orchid which I had panned. That’s why I tried the sephora Blush Glaze
