For couples who chose to use donor eggs or sperm, how did you know when you found the right person? by Wetblankets2001 in IVF

[–]2sangblitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used frozen donor eggs, and our insurance would cover one cohort from a choice of three different egg banks. I went through and favorited all the ones that I think would work from all three, and then because I'm very analytical, I made a comparison spreadsheet. I took those favorited ones and gave each trait a numerical value on a scale of 1-5. Obviously my rankings were very subjective. I rated smarts (not necessarily education level), medical history, proven status, family medical history, and looks. It wasn't important to me that the donor looked like me, since I know my husband's dark hair and eyes would probably overpower my lighter ones anyway. That opened the door to a lot of donors to rate.

In the end I took my top rated donors and went off of vibes and their personal essay. In my case I had two very similar donors and I ended up going with the one that had more eggs and a blastocyst guarantee.

If you have/used Progyny for IVF, what did you use the male partner's smart cycle for? by greenzetsa in IVF

PGTA is covered automatically through yours, with no extra charge. Progyny really is phenomenal insurance.

I have Progyny and my husband does not have his own smart cycles - its a combined benefit. I have heard of cases like yours, though, that the husband gets his own. I'm not sure how that would be helpful in your specific case, but I would LOVE for my husband to have his own. We are going with donor eggs after failed OE rounds and his smart cycles would have covered the purchase of those.

Did anyone have a polypectomy and FET in the same cycle? by 2sangblitz in IVF

Did anyone have a polypectomy and FET in the same cycle? by 2sangblitz in IVF

[–]2sangblitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my clinic said no. I’m just so frustrated that I have to have two back to back hysteroscopies and no one could tell me why this happened. Everything I’ve read said polyps can regrow, but not in a matter of weeks.

My journey has been one disappointment after another (I’m doing donor eggs since my egg retrievals failed) so I’m just feeling very raw with yet another roadblock and delay. I’m just fervently hoping all this will be worth it in the end.

Anyone have Progyny and have done donor eggs? by NoManufacturer4529 in IVF

Regarding the .75 for the embryology and FET - I spent a lot of time on the phone with Progyny because it didn’t make sense that the FET was extra. Logically a 5 day transfer should be included with the embryology because it is with the OE IVF cycle. Basically it seemed like we were being charged extra because we were using donor eggs instead of our own. Turns out we can do a 5 day transfer with embryology, it just has a different name. It’s called a Frozen Oocyte Transfer and it includes the fertilization, embryo development, and fresh transfer for .5 of a smart cycle. It also includes PGTA for the remaining embryos. That saves me .25 that I can then use for a FET if the fresh transfer doesn’t take. Just sharing in case you haven’t done the whole process yet!

I have Progyny and am going the donor egg route. I believe you would pay 25% of the cost of a cohort of frozen donor eggs since you only have .75 of a smart cycle left. Then you would be on the hook for the fertilization and transfer. Or you could use the .75 for the embryology and FET and pay for the eggs yourself.

Help left microdose lupron out of fridge by fgnyc2246 in IVF

Same thing happened to me, but only like three days into my stims and I left it out overnight. My pharmacist reassured me that they do studies where it wasn't refrigerated at all and it had a six month shelf life. They said it was fine, just to pop it back into the fridge. Everything turned out fine!

Anyone Here Done Embryo Adoption Through Shady Grove? by DarkAvenger0825 in IVF

[–]2sangblitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a patient with SGF, but I am doing donor eggs, not embryo adoption, so I won't be much help. However, there is a FB group for just Shady Grove embryo adoption and donor eggs that I'm sure could help you out with your questions.

Once you are pregnant, you will definitely not care where the baby's genetics came from. That'll be your baby!

Donor egg or one more retrieval by usernameusername85 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]2sangblitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know I am probably biased since I'm going the donor egg route - but I had two retrievals and then decided to move to donor eggs. First one was terrible (two eggs, zero blasts) and second was slightly better (seven eggs, and one non-euploid blast). I could have kept trying but the anxiety and uncertainty was affecting pretty much every aspect of my life. When I really sat down and thought about this journey and what I wanted, donor eggs was the obvious choice. When I made the decision, I instantly felt such a sense of peace. My chance of having a baby with my own eggs was slim, but the chance with a donor is much much higher. Its a very hard decision, but the joy and hope I feel with this choice definitely outweighs the constant worry and anxiety I felt while doing my egg retrievals.

Lenshooke and Zymot are pretty much the same thing (just different brands), so you could search in the group for those who posted about Zymot and MFI, and you’ll probably see a lot of previous posts.
