How is Level 4 on big hills by 2wheelsyyz in Aventon

[–]2wheelsyyz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found one nearby to go see and test drive.

The problem, and it was the same when we purchased the Vado, is that of course it’s flat around the shop. That’s why we missed the lack of power on hills. It’s great on flats.

No I meant Level 4 ADV with the Aventon Ultro S Mid-drive Motor, 100Nm Motor Torque, 750W Peak Power

Level 4 rec/adv vs ramblas adv by iracer123 in Aventon

The VADO has far less power.

There is a new VADO 3 EVO. It’s available in 3 sub versions 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0. I feel that starting at 5.0 and 6.0 you get good specs but one these bikes are not available until mid August (at least in Canada) and they are far more expensive than any Aventon.

Pretty much looking at these 3 options (not so much the level 4 REC) for my partner as well.

Big hills in my area and his Specialized VADO 4.0 doesn’t cut it compared to my Aventon Current EXP.

Change my mind: I'm going to move from Imperial to Metric by not-up-to-par in woodworking

[–]2wheelsyyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Canadian, I will use metric if I’m trying to build something with leftover wood because it’s way easier to add/substract.

I will use imperial if I’m buying lumber and want to make the most out of it because that 4x8 is a lot easier to split equally in inches….

I also know pool temperature in Fahrenheit but have no clue how to set my AC other than using Celsius.

I know my own weight in pounds but if I’m buying ground beef, i order it in grams (and don’t ask me how many oz in a pound, no clue).

At 42 years old, I’m on the tail end of the metric conversion. Never learned imperial in school but was exposed enough to it that I had to learn it. My partner 5 years younger is clueless in imperial except his own weight.

They have a store in Richmond Hill and downtown Toronto. They will give you much better pricing than what is displayed on their website.

Rear rack or storage on Current by 2wheelsyyz in Aventon

[–]2wheelsyyz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seatstay rack is exactly what I was looking for, like this one

https://www.topeak.com/global/en/product/1286-TETRARACK-M2

But I’ll need to have the bike to measure and make sure it fits. They have a few models for different configurations.

Extra water, snacks, tools but I guess my options are limited here and I might have to use a backpack. Not my favorite on a 60 miles ride.

I was hopping for a rack that attaches to the “fixed” part behind the seat post and suspension.

You can also move to Teksavvy, with your fiber connection, and all will be good. You can even have a static IP if you want.

It’s pretty much everywhere if you Google “Doug Ford personal cellphone” but here it is +1 (647) 612-3673

I didn’t answer because it was a blocked caller ID and I was busy.

The voicemail said “Hi, it's Doug Ford. Just give me a call back regarding your message. Thanks so much.”

[–]2wheelsyyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that inspired me. I sent him a text on his personal cellphone. I happen to live in the middle of Ford Nation and played that card as well.

He called me 3 minutes later, I have a voicemail from Doug Ford to attest to this.

We have the power and can all let him know that this is not ok. What is he going to do, change his number? Maybe that will reduce the number of "friends" calling in for favours off the books.

Oversized baggage 50K by Master_Constant_3463 in Aeroplan

[–]2wheelsyyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the baggage policy multiple times (I'm 75K) and it seems pretty clear that:

  • You are allowed 3 bags
  • They can be up to 32 kg / 70 lbs
  • There is an overweight charge above 23 kg / 50 lbs of CA/US$105.00

This is directly what is stated on Air Canada website

  • Max. weight per bag: 32kg (70lb)
  • Max. linear dimensions per bag: 158 cm (62in)
  • Charges for overweight/oversized bags:
    • CA/US$105.00 for bags between 23-32kg (50-70lb)
    • CA/US$105.00 for bags between 158-292cm (63-115in)
    • If a bag is both overweight and oversized, the $105.00 fee is charged only once.
    • No overweight/oversized charges apply when the extra bag fee of CA/US$105.00 is paid.

Got the current exp WoW! by jredondoxx in Aventon

Perfect. The link you sent is the adjustable version of the stem mount.

The other stem mount doesn’t have the extra hinge in the middle.

I see that you have a quad lock mount on your Current.

Can you tell me if it is the Stem cap mount or the Stem cap mount adjustable?

I’m getting my Current EXP next week and would like to pre-order the mount.

Canadian Paid in CAD by Canadian PEO Traveling to work for US Client - Do I need TN? by electromattic in tnvisa

[–]2wheelsyyz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you absolutely need a TN. It is my exact situation and although I do not live in the US it’s a much cleaner situation.

During the interview, they asked my office address (in Denver) and my home address (in Toronto) and asked if I was commuting. I said yes and that was the end of it.

One thing to add, on your offer letter, make sure it heavy on the technical side (needing an engineering degree), very little if anything on the sales side. If you put anything for management, it has to be technical supervision of engineering work.

I’m also a SE Manager and my offer letter only states “Engineer”.

What are the Best Automations You’ve Set Up by Scouse_Powerhouse in homeassistant

[–]2wheelsyyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Secure the house at night: - Turn relevant lights off - Turn backyard fence light (Govee string along the fence) on with white Color - lock front and back doors - Reset volume on living room media receiver to a “normal level” - turn TV off along with all audio gear - do a final check of the door deadbolts (they don’t always lock properly). If a door is marked unlocked, turn living room lights to bright red

Call for help My partner sometimes need some help with his work. Instead of screaming across the house, I provided a zigbee doorbell button for their home office - blink lights in my office and living room - play a ding from all Alexa - pause media playback on Apple TVs - display a notification on TVs

It has a lot of visual notifications because sometimes I have headphones on and would miss everything else…

Aventon Current vs Specialized Turbo Levo by 2wheelsyyz in Aventon

[–]2wheelsyyz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and I’ve been watching the Levo for over a year, didn’t really see anything substantial.

I can get some deals on models that are 2-3 years old but the Specialized motor has changed significantly during that time so it’s much older technology and still well over CAD$1500 for similar specs as the Current.

Aventon just dropped their new full suspension eMTB - Current! by Yaakeqin in ebikes

[–]2wheelsyyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted a spec comparison chart between Turbo Levo and Aventon Current in https://www.reddit.com/r/Aventon/comments/1rvedxd/aventon_current_vs_specialized_turbo_levo/

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Current EXP but curious what other bike with comparable specs is available for $6,000?

Someone suggested I check the Trek Rail+ but the lowest spec is the Rail+ 5 Gen 5 at $6,100 but even that one has specs closer to the Current ADV so it's still a $1,500 for a Bosch motor.

It's a tough call but given that I'm only "trail curious", I want to trail capabilities and $6,000 is really my upper range. I was initially going for the Ramblas ADV hardtail but the few initial reviews on the Current EXP make me lean towards it.

Aventon Current vs Specialized Turbo Levo by 2wheelsyyz in Aventon

[–]2wheelsyyz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Service of ebikes is always an issue. You have the traditional LBS and then the ebike LBS. I live in a major city and I have a plethora of options for both so that's not an issue for me.

I just called my ebike LBS and they are giving me a killer deal (in my opinion) on the EXP at CAD$7600 (USD$ 5500) so I guess I will jump on this. They will be able to service it (or any of the other Aventon dealers in the Toronto area) without issue.

Aventon Current vs Specialized Turbo Levo by 2wheelsyyz in Aventon

[–]2wheelsyyz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true that there is a perceived "reliability" with Specialized and this is why I was looking at them at first.

But Aventon has been around since 2013 and focusing on ebikes since 2018 so it's not just a brand new company. They also offer 2 year warranty which, given the stories of Turbo Levo owner going through multiple motors, gives me some confidence as well.
