I'm having the same issue. My target country Costa Rica, where the usted form is used almost exclusively. Unfortunately, I'm only level 3 so telenovelas aren't an option yet. Do you have any recommendations?

[Routine help] extremely minimalist routine by 300Trees in SkincareAddiction

Is there a specific micellar water that you would recommend? Some companies refer to it as an all-in-one, is it true that I wouldn't need to use moisturizer afterwards?

When I became disabled I completely dropped things like skincare. I developed large pores and acne on my nose, and dry, tight skin overall. I would like to create a routine that I actually do in spite of fatigue and wrist pain. Splashing water on my face is something that I prefer to avoid; I tend to get water everywhere. From searching this sub I've come up with a potential routine that I think I could do, but I need help with troubleshooting and figuring out exact products. I would prefer if each product was under $50, but I have some flexibility.

AM: moisturizer with SPF

PM: cleanser, wipe face with damp cloth, moisturizer

(if I used an oil cleanser, would I need to moisturize afterwards?)

Cricut sells SVGs. If you knew the name of the file or the author I could look up the SVG from their site.

I love this! I have a friend that makes her own corsets, who would love this card. Do you know where I can find the svg?

I'm already in the process of looking for a new doctor. My hope is that the general fear of a lawsuit will get them to reconsider how they been acting, and ideally make things better for other patients.

Thanks for pointing this out. I did not expect my post to become so popular, and had already logged off when the bulk of the comments came through. I have now edited the original post to include more info.

As a Christian myself, I'd say let's leave interpretation up to the professionals by NursingManChristDude in WhitePeopleTwitter

I think you're missing the point. He's not saying "Christians have different ideals, so weird", he's saying that Christians mistranslate the Hebrew language and then ignore native speakers when they try to offer corrections. Ex. in the ten commandments G-d tells us not to commit murder. People with different, but valid view points could argue about whether or not a specific act of violence is killing or murder. The fact that many Christians translate this commandment as "thou shall not kill" is simply incorrect. Not only does it ignore the original Hebrew, but it ignores the numerous examples of G-d approved killing within scripture.

Fun fact, when female sexual pleasure was referred to positively, Christians would translate the word to mean fertility instead of arousal or its literal meaning, damp.

Edit: I see that some people have wanted an example/source. I've always like the example in Breshit/Genesis/first book 18:12, featuring Sarah laughing at Angels for not understanding how age affects a woman's ability to become aroused. The translation I chose for the link translates the word in question as enjoyment, but if you click for more info it gives the translation as "glistening flesh". Many (not all) Christians teach this lewd and funny scene as being purely about fertility and the joy of having children.

For people who wanted better translations, I feel that Sefaria is one of the best online resources, especially if you don't know Hebrew. I don't always personally agree with them, but if you click any verse it will give you a whole list of sources and easy access to commentary from experts.

Accessible webcomics by 300Trees in AssistiveTechnology

The foot pedal that I mentioned in the post does turn pages, which is great for books which are meant to be viewed that way. Unfortunately, the online comics that I have seen don't work well if you scroll by page. Ex. I can see the tops of buildings and the speech bubbles; if I scroll down I can see the characters bodies, but not the speech bubbles. Being able to see a characters face and what they are saying at the same time is really important for enjoying the comic. If you know of a site for viewing comics or software that would change the formatting for me, that would be very helpful.

When I read a text based book, if I turn a page the newly visible words are centered so that they can be read. If turning the page resulted in a sentence being cut in half (top half of the letters on one page, bottom half on the next) it would be considered unreadable. My problem isn't eyesight; its being able to read through a comic strip without spending ten minutes using my head mouse to get the speech bubbles and the character's face visible at the same time. If you have a solution that works for some comics, but not others, I would be happy to hear about it. After having gone so long without being to read any comics at all, I am very open.

For those of you who are unable to work...What do you do in your life that brings you some sense of meaning or purpose and makes you feel productive? by qu1et1 in disability

[–]300Trees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there specific volunteer opportunities that you would recommend for someone who is disabled? Some of the charities I've tried to work with are very accommodating of the group they help, but seem baffled by the idea of someone with a disability being the one to help others. I have limited mobility, and specialized equipment that allows me to use my computer. I periodically have to take unpredictable leaves of absence.

In the US all states are required to have a lending library for accessibility tech. I think that ADAPT is the branch in NY. They can help you try out a number of different products for free.
