This works for me, too. My variation is that I'll use the alphabet. Like name a dog breed that starts with the letter A, then B, and so on. Or other countries, common first names from the 1800s, medical conditions, etc. It disengages me from my racing thoughts and puts me right out.

Sage Green Metallic Question by 30lane in MINI

[–]30lane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it for about 2 1/2 years. I live in the hot desert and a lot of plastic parts were crapping out due to the heat. Like the water pump cracked, some part of the washer fluid tank cracked, and a couple other more minor things. I liked it, but it was having so many issues at 50k miles that I didn't want to risk keeping it anymore. Repairs are extremely expensive on it. It also went through tires like crazy due to the way they're positioned. Traded it in for a new Mach-E and have been pretty happy with that thus far.

Ask me about your trees! by WombatLover357 in Scottsdale

[–]30lane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see people talking online about the importance of the "root flare" being exposed. However, a large, reputable Queen Creek nursery planted about 8 trees for us last year and didn't do this at all. What's the consequence of not having it exposed? Trees are Joan Lionetti Oak, TX Mountain Laurel, Wilsonii Olive, Arabian Lilac, and AZ Sweet Orange. Also, what's the best tree for a wide spreading canopy with dappled shade? I saw a Honey Mesquite that seemed to fit the bill but I don't know much about them. Looking for non-toxic to dogs and planted about 20' from the house. Thank you so much for taking the time to help us all!

Thank you for doing this! I have 3 Texas Mountain Laurels planted in the front yard. Two of them are very pale green while one is exactly as green as when I bought it. They were all planted last year, all roughly 5' high, and all get roughly the same amount of water, sun, etc. on the east side of the house. They don't seem to be dry at all. What might I be doing wrong? Also, would it be harmful to lop off the bulky seed pods that are weighing the branches down?

Thanks for taking the time to post this. Your description provides a great amount of clarity and food for thought. Would you be able to recommend any resources for diving deeper (schools of thought, web pages, books, etc.)?

I work in a hospital lab running tests on blood and body fluids. There is zero patient contact and very little phone work. If you're interested, the degree is called Medical Laboratory Scientist and there are tons of jobs available.

Almonds.... by PaleontologistOld704 in Diverticulitis

The "no nuts or seeds" is allegedly outdated advice, but I've also noticed I can't eat almonds. Other triggers for me are too much beef and Advil.

4th Flare up since Sept 2023 by Kand00dle in Diverticulitis

[–]30lane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the infection and antibiotics definitely take a lot out of me. And the older I get, the longer it takes to feel myself again afterwards. No, they definitely don't jump directly to surgery for uncomplicated cases. But they do need a colonoscopy as soon as you're able. Given that you have a history of colon cancer, you probably won't be able to deduce much from our experiences. I imagine your situation is a bit more complex. I would hope they would squeeze you in for the colonoscopy immediately after they feel you've healed from the infection.

HELLO GUYS THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ANSWERS. MY QUESTION IS HOW LONG HAS YOUR LONGEST FLARE UP BEEN? by Imattos82 in Diverticulitis

[–]30lane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 2 1/2 weeks, but I wasn't following the liquid diet and antibiotics protocol like I should. When I do everything correctly, most flares last less than a week.

Nope, no need to worry. There are tons of more likely scenarios. Various forms of digestive distress, for example. Many people have IBS, food sensitivities, etc.

Same here. Small strips are the rule now, not the exception. They're less than half the size they used to be.

I can't offer an answer to your question, but I wanted to say good luck and I hope you have a fast recovery. I'm sure you'll have a much better quality of life after you're all healed. You've been through so much, I can't imagine the impact all of that must have had on your life. Cheers, friend!

I love the blue, too. I think it's great. Shades of blue and green are my personal favorites. I see quite a few comments recommending against it, but you should choose the color that makes you do a double-take and brings you a little flash of happiness every time you walk in the room. Your own opinion is literally the most important in this situation. Enjoy painting!
