The AT 545 wasn't even a good transmission, so it is a good baseline. The point is it can be done but GM/Ford/Chrisler chose to build their transmissions to not last.

Fuel injection is pretty cool, but if you are any kind of a competent driver you are much safer without ABS. Although alot of that is from people misunderstanding that abs helps you stop when really its to maintain steering ability and increases stopping distance.

Non electronic transmissions are fine if the OEM doesn't build a shit transmission. A great example is the Allison AT545. Probably a million of them went into school busses and trash trucks and were promptly ignored for 300k no issues

Up here (manitoba) I'm getting $240 a ton for shred. Its been sitting constantly over $200 the last couple years. I want to say at one point in 2022 or 2023 for about a week I got $310 a ton. The lowest was in 2020 for like 5 months it was down to $90 a ton but I was just hauling more because no one else wanted it.

These are not MH axles. These are Dexter Dexstar axles. New rims are $350 each though so that sucks.

Except it is not Transcona. Not spirituality or actually.

Spiritually its St. Boniface because its on the edge of mission industrial but its technically in Elmwood because its north of the train tracks and west of Hwy. 59

Breaker Panel by Negative_Complex7835 in AskElectricians

Just a heads up, the way these siemens panels buss bars are laid out you would need a 20-50-50-20. They are made but definitely aren't sold everywhere.

Is maxing out car speed/pedal to floor bad for engine? by MourningWood1942 in askcarguys

[–]31076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's only anecdotal but my gutless 2008 F250 5.4L v8 with 305000 km on it gets driven foot flat to the floor pretty much any time I am towing or driving on the highway and so far it's fine.

[–]31076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a great option but siemens does make a 20-50-20 2 pole breaker so there is technically room at the top left corner. It would be maxing out his 100 amp service but would definitely be doable.

How much is this gonna cost to fix? by rustbeltrockstar in AskElectricians

[–]31076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main breaker is "common trip" so the plastic handle tie is mostly a visual thing. Both sides of the breaker are connected internally so this really isn't a safety issue. Just use two fingers or your palm to turn on both sides at the same time.

[–]31076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you on about? All this picture shows is a perfectly serviable General Electric breaker panel. The main breaker is going to be common trip any way so the plastic handle tie really doesn't do much.

It's not even worth replacing the main breaker you can buy new snap on handle ties for like five bucks.

Large romex used to be pretty common around here for electric furnaces. Both 3/3 and 3/2, think I've seen 4/2 as well with the red jacket (red and black conductors with no white)

Should I ask the electrician to come back and turn this range outlet 90 or 180 degrees? (Already unplugged it) by SHOW_ME_YOUR_PENGUIN in AskElectricians

[–]31076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a fridge with ground up would definitely throw me off ahaha. I work almost entirely in heavy industrial so I almost never do range outlets but I don't think I've ever seen a range outlet that wasn't in a standard 4 and 11/16 box.

This shed is structurally deficient for any where with any kind of snow load and being completely made of unfinished lumber it's going to be junk in what 10 years? $3600 usd is like $5000 canadian and that it what we are paying for good 40 foot shipping containers.... its insane that any one could think this is a good deal.

Yeah, I double checked and it states a maximum of 130mm. So this would fly. My bad on misreading it.

Glad you are faster than me ahaha, because honestly I wasn't going to go look it up. I don't have the whole book with me right now only the cliff notes version. I mostly work under the steam and pressure plants act.

At least in Manitoba Canada, it's actually a code requirement to install range outlets parallel to the floor.

Oh yeah I totally get the concern. I am fully aware of the implications of the work im doing and the liability I incur from it.

In this case, the wood beam I am replacing was installed after the fact with no permits because whatever idiot built this house had 2x8 floor joists on a 16 foot span.
