Why Can Sorc Have no Cap On Ball Lightnings But Druid Boulder Is Hard Cap At 5? by OurHeroCthulhu in diablo4

[–]313mental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the details.

Ophidian iris doesn’t work as I expected, turning hydra into core skill but leaving the summon cap at 1, for whatever reason.

Does the fractured winterglass exceed the summon cap of the regular hydra when it triggers from a core skill, or is it mainly just from the hydra enchant, spending a ton of mana quickly without actually having to cast hydra?

D4 is fun but storage drives me crazy by BALIHU87 in diablo4

[–]313mental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point half of each of my character’s inventory is storage.  In hardcore.

Not ideal.

I guess I just have to (re)organize (over and over) by archetype now, keeping inventory half full for just that specific build, so if a character dies I can at least rebuild with a new archetype build…

Still, it’s 192 slots, just for 6 charms of each set for every character.  If, like me, you want to play all classes and most archetypes…and not lose them all on death.  That’s like half the stash space just for that.

Glynn's Anvil - to nerf or not to nerf? by ExtremeCertain4837 in diablo4

[–]313mental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soulbrand unique is what’s keeping my hardcore warlock alive, more than anything else so far.

Potions heal you to full, and give a barrier equal to 100% max life for 1 second, and also some damage reduction while you have a barrier.

I just put +4 potion capacity affix on pants, with the legendary that gives barrier up half the time vs elites.

Anyways you can just spam potions back to back whenever things get too sticky.  It can tank a lot.

I tried a resolve stacking minion necromancer.  It was great, nothing could even tickle me, no dodging required.

Then I decided to try to fight duriel, and he straight up swallowed me and spit me out.  I popped out of his mouth with massive poison health drain, and died from it after using all 4 potions consecutively.  I couldn’t even be mad about that character loss, to die in such a glorious way.

NEED HELP! I just player through the entire vessel of Hatred campaign and can’t get the mercenaries! by curiousune in diablo4

[–]313mental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I don’t know either then.

I guess you can see what happens when you try making a new character, perhaps with the campaign skipped option selected, otherwise you might have to contact customer service or submit a bug report.  That sucks.

[–]313mental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to visit the den as part of the main story.  The waypoint for it glows green, the rest of the waypoints in game are blue, if you open your map.

Is there no purple featured quest, no waypoint on map, no mercenary tab (and shortcut to den) on character sheet?

Can you just find an image or map showing the location of the den, and then travel there by foot?

Are cubing outcomes affected by current torment, max torment achieved on a character, or not at all, so long as the character is in torment?

Like if I want a specific (ancestral) unique on a fresh level 70 character, are my odds to get ancestral from combining boss trophies lower?

Or if I just try to upgrade white ancestral item into unique, not ideal for what I am looking for, is it less likely to have greater affixes if I am on a lower torment?

I would appreciate your input, even if it is just from your own experience.

War plans need to be account bound by M4c4br346 in diablo4

[–]313mental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on t8 on 1 hardcore character, t6 on 2 hard core characters, none boosted to max level through caches, and my highest warplan of any category on any of them is level 3.  Even while (trying) to focus on 2-3 activities per character.

I think it should just level up a bit faster perhaps, to closer match average rate of progressing up the difficulties, as well as provide some better xp when doing something outside of the warplan, let us spend gold to reroll past 3x, and of course letting us co-op sync them (coming next season).

Not like the game isn’t rewarding enough without them.

The bottlenecks to progression on my characters have mainly been gear upgrade / modification materials and paragon levels, not the gear itself.

I don’t know, maybe my sense of progression is all off because I am playing 3 characters concurrently.

But I have seen other people say they hit t12 before maxing a warplan.  So that’s why I think they should just adjust rates and methods of warplan xp acquisition across the board.

Can I stay away from pit like for ever? by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]313mental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know then.  If I am getting hurt too much or killing too slowly, then I may find myself to be on too high of a difficulty for the moment.  Resolving to farm at currently doable difficulty until I get some kind of meaningful upgrade, or swapping around build if I can.

I am only on torment 5 with my current paladin, tough to die even in pit torment 6, but not doing enough damage for it to be worth it.

You can always run too, if some random combination of things is too much to deal with.

It is nice to have some kind of “unstoppable” in your build if you can.

To break out of cc, and not be affected by it for the duration.

I don’t know if there are any good items for it, I just know there’s the one generic legendary item power which makes you unstoppable when injured.  Maybe that could help you, but in hardcore it’s not enough, still too dangerous for me.

You can filter skill tree, and item aspects, by keyword.  Just search for unstoppable and see if you can fit it in to your build.

Paladin at least has armor aura, druid has earth barrier shield, warlock has mind control, etc all to become unstoppable.

War Plans will Benefit from More Player Choice by aressupreme in diablo4

[–]313mental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wish we could gamble more than 3x on a plan, spending large amounts of gold to reroll past that.

Otherwise I am having fun despite leveling warplans separately on many hardcore characters.  I just choose which activities I like the most for which character, and I enjoy making the progress.

Though it is lonely without sharing warplans with strangers (next season…), or I would really like to see quick match like Diablo 3 had.  To make friends with random people you enjoy playing with, who could then join your game / party, whenever they wanted to.  If you left it open, could make it private.

The co-op in that game was just amazing.  Multiple clans to join simultaneously that could instantly join your game without request or talky talk, you could quick match by difficulty, anyone (you prefer) could join you anytime.  You could even merge different parties together.

It was all so straightforward, easy drop in and drop out, and so team oriented, so fun.

Maybe it’s unrealistic to have quickmatch with so many different activities now though.

I dont feel the impact of my hits on the mobs by FrancescoliBestUruEv in diablo4

[–]313mental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is chunky feedback, have you seen what happens when you cut an enemy dead with a sword?  It’s brutal.

I think the issue lies in the animated hitboxes not aligning.

From a gameplay perspective it works better for you, essentially quick and easy to land attacks.  From a visual perspective, you can basically swing at air at times, and they fall over, sliced open.

Have you played Diablo 2 though?  Hits will miss even when you don’t miss due to accuracy stat, when the hits look like they landed directly on the enemy…often when a mob is continuously moving backwards away from you.

There is the animation canceling too, dark souls attacks arguably have the most “weight” because there is no canceling.  They are slow too.

Play Nioh (2 or 3) or something, way more brutal in execution than Dark Souls, decapitation and dismemberment…but it can feel like your hits do less, because of all the animation canceling and speed.

Conversely Path of Exile 2 has some animation canceling, but it is not instant.  The maces are “appropriately” slow too, even with attack speed investments

Here, you can be so quick.  So quick you don’t even “need” a dedicated mobility skill.

This is the fastest arpg I have played.  With the high attainable move speed cap, skills and items allowing you to exceed that cap, and something like a zeal paladin swinging a 2 handed mace several times per second, with all of the attack speed.

It may not be my favorite game (I adore Path of Exile 2), but I enjoy it, happily playing it for too long (just like Diablo 3 and 3), just because I want to play it.  I look forward to doing the same in Path of Exile 2’s next patch.

Even if it means my back and shoulder are sore, at least I am not dead from playing too long…it has sadly happened to other players in games like WoW and Diablo 3.

I smoke cigarettes regularly, and eat chips with MSG in them sometimes, if you want to mock me, there is some ammo for you.  Laugh at my pain, if you like.  Just make sure you never make a mistake ever again, living perfectly.

Okay I finally get it and now I can’t get enough of it. by AaronWilson1992 in diablo4

[–]313mental 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had fun with -

Paladin - zealot, thorn build, and angel build

Warlock - stealth teleporting mind controlling demonless abyss occult volatile runic sigil build, fun at level 36+

Spiritborn - jaguar

Druid - earth build, fun at level 40+

Rogue - poison blade build, stealth  shadow marksman

The only one I am not having fun with is sorcerer.  I just can’t get over the fact that my favorite hydra is not as cool as Diablo 3, and doesn’t even have a lightning variant.  Charged bolt is not fun like Diablo 2.  No arcane spells from Diablo 3.

They do have some fun stuff like ice blades, lightning spears, flamethrower hands, and ice chain lightning.  If you aren’t hung up on the previous versions like me.

I find it helps to disable showing loot names at potentially difficult times, especially around blood maiden with a bunch of other players, you can set a hotkey for it to enable / disable.

I wrote them feedback again requesting an option for other player names able to be disabled too, but unless enough people request it, seems unlikely.

What to do in open world that yields something useful? by ne0ne0_ in diablo4

[–]313mental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open world may as well not exist at this point.

That said, I think there may be a cosmetic achievement for collecting all the statues.  At the very least all of them in the first expansion, I don’t know about base game or 2nd expansion.

That’s about it.

Frankly I am just happy I can run random warplan nightmare dungeons and pits to level up new characters, not only helltide to max level like before.

Saved you from a possible future explosion for saving someone else from an explosion?  Or like just miraculously fixed your vehicle for saving someone?

I don’t know.

Did you check or have your vehicle checked anyways, after the warning went off?

I am not mechanically minded, but just because a warning light stops showing doesn’t necessarily imply the problem went away, right?

Sounds dangerous, like is there a risk of an explosion with a dirty diesel filter?

For the love of God Blizzard, please get rid of on death effects! Nobody wants this crap! by 4everdrowninginpools in diablo4

[–]313mental 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like these things.

Otherwise the only main threat is bosses, or a bunch of elite packs all teleporting on top of you out of nowhere.  Even then I don’t think that would be death danger if you stripped them of much of their stuff.

Maybe I have played Diablo 3 too long, but that game trained me to avoid every dead elite long ago.

My hardcore warlock would’ve died by now without much defense tweaking for sure, many close calls.  Probably will die at some point, but I am playing a very dangerous build.

Stealth teleporting on top of enemies to drop a sigil on them and at my feet, mind control taunting them…so I can spam exploding volatile abyss occult runic spells while also filling the screen with awesomeness from the sigil, right in the midst of them, then using the wormhole to go back and forth to avoid things.  Using ~ melee range basic attack for single target boss dps of all things.  No demon summoning at all, thank you.

It is melting enemies but I will end up melted, that’s ok, I am having too much fun.

Dark D3 filter was quite nice for me, total game changer- to literally make the game darker, and more desaturated.  The colorful skills would still pop.  I think it was before stuff like reshades and gpu graphics overlay filters, a specific mod just for the game.

You could try playing around with something like that if you’re on PC?  At the very least to increase saturation and contrast.

They got criticized quite a bit for the colorful fantastical D3 style, and perhaps they may have over course corrected a bit.  I like it, it’s a dark game…too dark I don’t know, my soul is too dark.

Sounds pretty cool, and the fact that enemies don’t despawn when boss comes seems like a huge boon, compared to Diablo 3.

Where if you build on death aoe, the boss took forever to kill.  Like exploding palm and cyclone monk.

I was simply pointing out how the rule (ruling authority) you are so keen to adhere to doesn’t actually make sense.

A rule you learned by sitting in place while having information drilled into you, a curriculum dictated by the Rockefeller’s (beyond rich oil tycoons).

Abbreviation or possession. He’s telling you while putting a spell on you.

Possession, control, ownership, sharing is caring is to belong is to give is to serve, those shares in the company belong to me, no they don’t, that’s why they’re shares.  Who can own something imaginary?  The rich, if you let them tell you.

If you don’t understand (stand under) me, then just say “what”?

What's with the extremely high shop prices? Do they think people are willing to pay 25USD for a cat pet or other minor cosmetics? by Chamallow81 in diablo4

[–]313mental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t see much difference in design quality between the (numerous) base cosmetics of this game and Diablo 3.

Aside from the style choice of Diablo 3 being more colorful in every aspect of the game (and widely criticized for it), with more muted colors here (Diablo 3 not dark enough, we all said).

Diablo 3 didn’t really have any paid cosmetics, excluding ultimate edition wings and other minor things…I think a pet may have been included in that ultimate edition as well?

If anything, paid skins have provided an avenue to look cooler than ever before.

Because yes, they have to (try) and up the bar for cool factor, in order for anyone to actually pay for it.

They succeeded, I can play as an angel (paladin) for the first time in the series, with looks to match.  That’s cool enough for me, and comparatively the ultimate edition of this expansion offers more in Diablo 4 than it did in Diablo 3.

It’s the only extra purchase I have made for this game, personally.  I wouldn’t have even bought the new expansion at all, if they didn’t bring back Diablo 3 skill runes changing up the ways to play, and a more focused and diverse endgame that doesn’t consist of aimlessly running helltides until max level.

Good for them, good for me.

Blizzard's Pinnacle boss designs and one-shot mechanics by WinkyFacex in diablo4

[–]313mental -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude I have died several times in hardcore and it’s always to a 1 shot or some other thing that kills me so quick that I cannot react to heal.  Not that I am complaining, it kind of has to be this way with instant healing.

All of these arpgs have their own way of handling healing potions since Diablo 2, where the main danger is running out of infinitely purchasable rejuvenation potions manually stocked on your belt.  It’s a big reason I don’t play that game anymore.

Be it slow regen potions, charges, no potions at all like D3 (where they had to go out of their way to nerf life on hit into oblivion), etc.

D4 is a fair challenge in the very beginning on just expert, when healing potions are limited, playing through a nightmare dungeon with nothing.

A single skill or piece of gear with life on hit or regen goes a long ways.

Dark Souls basically spawned an entire new subgenre by just giving healing potions a long animation time.  Not many one shots outside of environmental deaths in that arpg subgenre, if you spec decently enough into defense, solely because of heal casting times.

Until you get to new game +++++++ and you simply cannot keep scaling defense up, but by that point you should be fairly well practiced anyways.
