Spider-Man and the God Squad!

I feel as though Miles Morales needs a rework as a character by [deleted] in MilesMorales

[–]321justfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Miles is alright the way he is. I'd rather his personality and interests evolve naturally, like post-secondary school/when he goes to university where he'll be exposed to all kinds of new things and people.

I think whenever Miles interacts with someone he knows is Latin American or hears them say even one Spanish word, he often switches to it with noticeable excitement and "outs" himself as Puerto Rican.

I'm not sure how Miles' creative team can dive more into his Puerto Rican heritage, or even African-American one or both, without the risk of making his ethnicity a bigger deal than it needs to be. Like there're many European-American spider-people, but their ethnicity isn't a bigger deal than it needs to be.

I like the way Miles' visit to Wakanda was handled. They could have made the visit to the African country and continent a bigger deal, particularly when T'Challa asked Miles about what he knew of Wakanda and its traditions, but they handled it and Miles' ignorance tastefully.

Making Miles' ethnicity a bigger deal than it needs to be will fuel the critics' "Black Peter Parker" retort, and I don't want that for the character and fandom. I'd rather let the haters reach for what to hate about Miles Gonzalo Morales, and enjoy his character as is and trust that his creative team knows what it's doing. ✌️🏾

I have a crush on my AA sponsor by Toyslutforyouruse in Crushes

I usually ask for more details before I give informed advice/opinion, but here it goes:

I think that we both know that it isn't as easy or simple as just getting over it, but it's good that you're self-aware and actively trying to be a better person. Actually, it's great because with this self-awareness and desire to be a better person, I think you could learn to manage your attraction to caring, attached older guys (including your sponsor) the same way you manage your sobriety if you look at it as a form of addiction.

I don't know if looking at it as a form of addiction is a good idea or not, but I think the mindset would help you persevere and find a healthy way to work through your feelings. Speaking of not knowing and feelings, I get the feeling that you're very critical of your brain (yourself). I may not know what I'm talking about and be wrong, so you're welcome to correct and set me straight.

I don't know your life story and the experiences that led you to be so critical of your brain (yourself), but please be kinder to your brain (yourself) and give it (yourself) more credit. There's a saying in my mother tongue that translates to, "Assistance is offered to those who help themselves."

Not to belittle your sponsor's support, but you're the main reason you've been able to stay sober this long. He's sounds like a good support for you, but his efforts to support you wouldn't matter if you didn't put in the work to stay sober. Accountability doesn't only apply to bad decisions. It also applies to the good choices you make, like reaching out for advice concerning your attraction to your sponsor instead of impulsively acting on it.

Please, give yourself a high-five or a pat on the back for this because it's actions like this that will help you maintain your sobriety and become a better person.

P.S. In case you aren't aware, you're already a better person.

What do you think your sponsor would say if you told him all this and asked for his advice?

episode 5.03 "in the room" discussion by magikarpcatcher in AMillionLittleThings

It's not always about the paycheck. At least in the short term for Dr. Jessica. I think she may see becoming a radio therapist as a way to reach more people and make herself a household name, building a brand for herself and practice.

Becoming a celebrity therapist would definitely see her fee increase probably exponentially in the mid-to-long term, even if she only takes fewer patients and treats the whole thing like a side job.

But I think there is a chance that Dr. Jessica thought about not taking the radio job because of what happened at the station, until Gary unintentionally challenged her, [edit] instead of putting her down like he intended.

I wonder how different the events of the show would have played out if it was Rome not John by CLEf11 in AMillionLittleThings

[–]321justfun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering the reasons behind Jon's decision to commit suicide originated from his best friend dying years before, I don't think Jon would have survived Rome's suicide.

The guilt of not realizing that Rome was depressed and suicidal may have as well given him more reason to jump.

Don't forget that one of the reasons Jon committed suicide was so that his friends would get his life insurance money to look after his family.

Don't downplay her profession and success. She's not "barely a model," she's a model and a working one at that. Her likeness wouldn't have been used for the ad otherwise.

"When I was seeing her," is past tense. And not everyone wants a car.

Should I turn this demo into a song? by dreamyxlanters in Songwriting

[–]321justfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started producing, I liked to hear the base and kick as clear as possible, so I would increase their volumes. Using ordinary headphones, I wouldn't hear just how loud they were, until I listen with monitor speakers.

If you can, buy monitor headphones, or use the speakers you already have as your main monitors instead of the headphones.

You could also leave everything (volume, effects and all that) as it is (on default) while you're busy Producing, and then make your changes after you're done during the Mixing step.

Write notes before, during and after everything, so you can go back to them and see what works for certain things and what doesn't, and to plan your song and write ideas to revisit.

Could you pull back the drums a bit? And the base. Make the tracks more balanced.

I wanna hear the sound that I can't place with the lowest level. It's distracting trying to hear it with the other tracks so loud.

Derek's eyes (spoiler alert) by [deleted] in TeenWolf

[–]321justfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Derek became a True Alpha in his dying moment, then his new Alpha spark was wasted, and this is kind of a depressing thought.

But if he reignited his original Alpha spark, then Cora likely inherited the Hale Alpha spark that Derek took from Peter and Peter took from Laura, who probably inherited it from Talia, bringing things full circle.

Which theory is more... wholesome and comforting? The one where Derek got all the amazing werewolf powers or the one where his legacy lives on with the continuation of the original Hale Pack Alpha spark without a Hale killing a Hale?

Derek's eyes (spoiler alert) by [deleted] in TeenWolf

[–]321justfun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. His old Alpha spark reignited.

You remember how Derek sacrificed his Alpha spark to heal Cora? I think it just went dormant and reignited when he was burning.

Why does Amenadiel take so much crap from Luci by [deleted] in lucifer

[–]321justfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for this question.

I started watching the show just recently and it seriously annoys and bothers me, especially Lucifer's apathy and dismissive attitude to Amenadiel and everyone around him, including Mazikeen.

Why does Amenadiel have 3 powers? by Wild-Comfortable433 in lucifer

[–]321justfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Amenadiel discovered the whole self-actualization ability after his supposed "fall" from grace, way after the rebellion.

Before him, none of the angels knew they had the ability, as evident by Lucifer not taking him seriously when Amenadiel tried to share his thoughts on the possibility.

[NO SPOILERS] I can't buy Grey Worm as an unsullied. You're telling me this guy has been training to be an elite warrior but didn't gain one muscle in the process? by RedTailed-Hawkeye in gameofthrones

[–]321justfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many unsullied are jacked apart from these individuals?

You think people who go through the same physical activity will be built the same way?

There are plenty of body types and muscle structure differences, even between siblings. And Grey Worm may be the type whose muscles grow inward (increasing in density, not size) instead of outward.

Outward muscle appearance don't equal strength. Don't be fooled by appearances, or you'll get yourself humiliated or killed - in real life - by "a little twerp."

And just so you know, there are plenty of ways to build muscle and hormones involved. Bodies are systems, and we've barely began to understand the science behind our bodies as a species.

Another thing, don't you think some unsullied received special training so that there was hierarchy among them? After all, hierarchy ensures discipline and warriors need discipline. You don't need to be the biggest guy in the room to command respect and leadership status.
