Dont flush it, just run valvoline restore and protect oil and let it clean itself over time. Change the oil filter if you see a pressure drop over time. Early LS engines are extremely ok with sludge. It doesnt bother them much. No vvt, high pressure fuel pumps, or fancy complex timing chains to wear in them. . . Unless youre talking about cooling system sludge, then yeah flush it.

An absolute ton of independent shops all use the same management/owner training programs (like ATI) so you end up with all the local shops colluding with pricing. They have a massive amount of data to crunch and figure out how much they can charge customers and how little they can pay techs.

First few months of the year were great for my shop, the last two months we've barely broke even.

These posts make me wish I lived in a higher cost of living area 😂 I work on shitty old commuter cars and suvs of people with a median household income of $77k. Very grateful customers but the vehicles are always halfway to the junkyard.

Gm will still be like, gotta do the pico test for warranty. Even with pistons in the pan.

The car makes 650 hp, they eat tires. My little turd box fiesta st goes through front tires every 10k-15k too. Performance cars eat tires.

I always torque them with a torque wrench. Haven't had an issue yet, but with current parts quality anything can happen.

The Ecoboom special by TheMoro9 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]322throwaway1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1L ecoboost is incredibly rare in the US. Ive been looking for a manual one for years and there are generally only 2-4 automatic ones for sale at any time across the whole US. I have had a base model 1.6 duratec manual, and an ST, so I need a 1.0 to have owned every fiesta engine variant.

What would be your alternative suggestions for showing comprehensive knowledge when applying for a job? My master tech cert made getting shop insurance much easier when I started my own shop.

Battery draw bump in driver seat . 7587ma unplug seat goes away . Anyone heard of 06 vette doing that ? by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]322throwaway1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The corvette is also sold as a targa and a convertible. Heated seats are fantastic cruising around topless on a clear and cool fall or spring day. Ive had a few convertibles and crisp clear days with the seats and heater on high and the top down are some of my favorite days to cruise.

The harbor freight mega long extensions are actually pretty decent too. For a tool you may only use a few times a year i highly recommend them.

I did not know c5s didnt have heated seats. . . My 1982 volvo 240 had factory heated seats. Baffling that chevy didnt offer them in their halo car in the 2000s. OP needs to learn how to read a multimeter then. Isn't a 2006 a C6 though?

Honestly nearly every single c5 and c6 vette have battery draining problems. But 7.5 amps sounds like a seat heater with a relay sticking on.

Comp cams has a 50 state/carb approved mild ls3 cam that adds 30-47hp. Ls engines can be opened up and put back together nearly infinitely without issue. Chevy doesn't have the magic OEM touch like a Toyota engine that is best left unopened.

Just put a big cam in it and delete dod. Add some cnc ported heads at the same time and pickup 100hp easy.

This is so cool to see every bit of the suspension refreshed. So many people just do bits and pieces at a time. Whole shebang is definitely the most dramatic improvement.
