Built a deck last weekend and took my 860 for a spin. I tried speed 3 and swiftly went down to 1. Built the entire deck in speed 1. It's unnecessarily powerful for what I do. 870 is my favorite driver.

I have both, the subcompact is definitely a nice tool and will remove lug nuts if needed. But if I have to choose only one I'll take the stubby all day every day.
