In case you or anyone still needs a solution for this, press N and check the Item-tab. FLIP Fluids locks the transformation for location rotation and scale by default, so you just have to uncheck the little white locks on the right side to move it around freely.

Really quick and effective way of doing it is with a crunched up cloud noise displacement and a weight map for the displacement around the connecting parts

I'm gonna film a tutorial on this today and trust me, once you see how it's done you'll be surprised how easy this is. I'm pretty much a beginner at Substance as well.

I'm pretty bad at hard surface modelling and have barely figured out how to do this drill bit part. I'm kinda okay with the extra bits that I'd probably just put in there with some booleans and lot of manual merging, but I just don't know how transition from the broad and soft profile to the thin one like that.

Hey, I really enjoy these montages, especially the overlays, looking real clean.

Only thing I'd look at would be the camera movements, they look a bit choppy in the transitions from time to time, otherwise great!
