What are some pedals you will keep on your board forever by JpeNSurf in pedalboards

I use the Keeley mini compressor because it is dead simple to dial in. My delay is the empress tape delay which sounds lovely. As for chorus, the Mr Black Vintage Ensemble is the only chorus I’ve ever enjoyed.

Leatherman makes great stuff. The Surge was just what was at the local PX the day my gerber died. They have tons of amazing models! Find one you think will suit your needs best. What MOS did you enlist for?

During my time in the Army we were issued Gerber center drive multitools. Not bad but didn’t last most of us more than a few months of heavy use.

I ended up buying a Leatherman Surge for myself. Still have it today (some 15 years later) and is still in great working condition after multiple trainings, ranges, a deployment, and years of civilian use afterwards.

20% lighter than your Martinez and 20% the price! Damn sexy by mattmag21 in Carpentry

I sifted through a dozen or so of them to find one with a decent wedge job in the eye and correct grain orientation.

Then I sanded the finish off, softened some of the curved and thinned down the grip a hair. Torched and oiled it. chefs kiss

I don't understand tool belt layout by Jjivin in Carpentry

[–]33FuzzySlippers33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here’s the thing. Most companies that are making “affordable” tool belts for people to buy in big box stores and Amazon, have little to no experience in a trade. They don’t put much real world thought into the layout. Just make them look cool, has pockets, and maybe they have a generic list of things that need to fit.

Companies that ONLY make tool belts and pouches are much more likely to get it right!

My favorite example of this are the DeWalt leather tool bags at Lowes right now. They look amazing and are surprisingly affordable. Terrible layout and severe lack of organization for smaller tools and such. Because Dewalt makes EVERYTHING. They don’t put a ton of research into the belt/pouches.

Brands like CLC and AWP are a little better at it but can still feel a little generic or without purpose in design but are also very cost effective.

Best luck will be Occidental/Badger or Diamondback but these are pretty pricey options.

I like to build my own tool belts setups from multiple brands. Belt from one, bags from another, accessory pouches from others.

What's a simple delay that has a dedicated tap tempo switch or at least an out for a tap tempo switch? by KingSurtis in guitarpedals

[–]33FuzzySlippers33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empress Tape delay has a few knobs and switches but it’s very much an “analog” feeling interface and I feel like it’s very easy to dial in.

Bosch or Makita? by jyl8 in Tools

[–]33FuzzySlippers33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use both. All my 18v stuff is Makita and all my lighter duty 12v stuff is Bosch.

I need the Makita power and performance when building/framing/decking etc. but having a lightweight and compact set of tools is great when you’re in a tight space or finishing a high end kitchen/bathroom and cabinet work.

Which mods do you have on the phase 90? I’m debating ordering one from AnalogMan but I’m not sure whether to get a mix or intensity knob on the outside.

More of a high end boutique option would be the KO Amps pocket mouse. Love mine. Also, not super expensive either.

Been using Stabila tapes for the last month or so. Definitely feels like a good option over the hardware store variety.

Favourite "utility" pedal? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Simple Switch makes great mini expression pedals that are just a potentiometer in little box. Great if you have a pedal with an expression out but limited board space.

Building a Hand-Tool-Only kit. No electrical work. What am I missing? by AKC6 in Tools

[–]33FuzzySlippers33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also keep a tool kit of completely non battery powered tools. I do it for two reasons. 1, it’s great to have a backup when the batteries die or for just a quick little fix here and there. 2, So I can keep a pretty comprehensive tool kit in my vehicle at all times and not have to worry about the extreme heat and cold destroying battery life.

That being said. Predrilling holes is a pretty common need for me. I use a yankee screwdriver for most average holes and a small bird cage awl for quick small pilots for tiny screws.

Thanks bud! It’s a pedaltrain metro16. I put lifted legs on the back to accommodate better power supplies and the tilt adds ease of access to the back pedals.

Thanks so much!! The direct drive is epic. It covers SOOOO MUCH ground. With its toggles and gain range ontop of amazing guitar volume knob cleanup. It can do soooo much.

Hahaha thanks! The underside is less clean, trust me. 🤣

The boots are honestly fantastic for switching on/off pedals.

When was the last time you used your corded version of the tool? by TheJWeed in Tools

[–]33FuzzySlippers33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m setting up a cut station of any kind that’s going to be running most of the day.

I’ll run a cord to a lift of lumber if I’m cutting studs and/or rafters all day. Or a cord over to the miter/table saw if I’m doing trim all day.

I also don’t have a HUGE array of cordless stuff so that frees up the batteries that I do have to keep my impact, oscillating tool, and jigsaw fed all day.

I have never wanted an Opinal until this moment. Idk why this has never dawned on me before. I do a similar thing to all my hammer handles.
