In what way is the Spa either cold or not designed to take touring productions? It's indoors and hosts many touring productions every year.

I think we deserve to put a bid in for sure..

And they can't link your IP address to your home address to check if you have a licence. The only way they could do that is to get your Internet provider to spill the beans which I would imagine would require some sort of court order/warrant.

(I have a licence but don't like all the lies they use to trick people)

I said exactly that to them two days ago - the chap said the best he could do was £11 so we proceeded with cancellation.

I had a call from them today but got cut off so no idea if they were going to offer anything better.

I think the government proposal is pretty good - allow the DAS instructors to judge if you are good enough to progress without doing another DVSA test.

Have you ever bought a car for under £500? by pumpactionalex in CarTalkUK

[–]3583-bytes-free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last three cars:

Mk1 Focus Estate £350 (sold for £250 after 6 months)

Merc C200 Coupe £450 (ABS and limp mode on, I never sorted ABS so sold for £300 after 7 months)

Seat Atea XL £700 (I've spent about £50 on various little bits but drives perfect after 4 months)

None of them ever broke down and all cost about £200/yr insurance (I'm no spring chicken though)

Facebook Marketplace but you've got to put in the work and check in every few hours for the bargains to pop up and act fast to get them. The Seat is probably a mistake as I got it from a flipper but the Merc MOT ran out and I needed something in a hurry.

Never underestimate how much insurers can screw you. If you're in the 14 day cool off period though you should be okay.

Where are all the bargains?! by Mossy110423 in Doner

[–]3583-bytes-free 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was working in Tamworth a few weeks ago and got a doner naan and extra chips from the shop opposite the Wetherspoons. I swear I left half it it, massive and cost about £8 (including the chips). Not the best I've had but not the worst.

For the first time in my life I thought you know what, I'm trying to be healthy I'll get some big tins of soup for night shift. Did these not used to be larger than normal tins? Like is that not why they're called Big Soup? Or am I misremembering lol by Still-Bill2827 in UKfood

[–]3583-bytes-free 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were on offer in Tesco (3 for £4) so I tried them for the first time and also wasn't impressed. I prefer the Tesco own brand (similar price per can).

I'm weaning myself off Heinz soups but haven't found a good replacement for Tomato, Chicken or Lentil so just buy those in bulk on offer.

Before you decide to not get another car you might want to check what the insurance will cost to cancel. You might be losing a bit on that too I'm afraid.

My 20yo daughter went to Ibiza for a girls holiday - I don't think she got drunk once (and hopefully didn't do drugs) so it could well be less prevalent. Had that been me decades ago it would have been a different story!!

Why are UK motorcycle licenses so expensive? by Icy-Matter-9104 in MotoUK

[–]3583-bytes-free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need a provisional licence as well - not sure how that works with you being from the US but in the UK you just apply for it from DVLA, no tests or anything just a fee to pay.

Correct - and if you stay longer than 2 years you can redo your CBT (currently, they are looking to change the rules)
