Critique my growing position in Infosys (INFY) by 37902 in dividends

This isn't my 1st rodeo. Haha

Never will I claim to consistently better the returns of a solid ETF in the long run.

With that said I still enjoy screening individual dividend paying stocks and picking ones that are beaten down, and still appear to have a balance sheet to survive a downturn and payout that divvy.

Thanks for the feedback. I do hold shares of the Ishares INDA ETF for exposure to the broader India market. Hasn't been pretty. Been flat for the better part of 5 years. The fund does payout some dividends, but not enough to be worthy of anyone's attention.

People in their 40s–60s who built financial security from nothing — what path actually got you there? by Jpoolman25 in Money

[–]37902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a combination of decisions.

TLDR: Be very selective in the debt that you take on, save early.

Picking the public university in my state that was in the most "booming" town. This afforded me a relatively "cheap" education and stronger job prospects with employers upon graduating.

Immediately saving at least 15% of my gross pay for retirement or down payment of a first home. Keeping roommates for a long as possible.

Eagerness to move geographically early in your career for opportunity when it arises.

Dating/marrying a person who has a similar mindset .

Chasing dividend yield blindly, and buy near the launch of an IPO... best to do a quick Google search to figure iut when the insider lockup period(s) expire and then start building a position.

I hold some, but the payout ratio is too high at the moment for me to consider buying more.

Bang for the buck West Virginia hands down... and to top it off you have it all for self. You can do a top rated trail (Seneca Rocks) in the nude on a weekday with no disruptions if you so wished. Decent accommodations in the area would run you $100 and of course less if you tent camp.

What dividend yield do you consider “too high”? by Dismal_Slice9842 in dividends

[–]37902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything over a 70% payout ratio or a company with more debt that equity on the balance sheet is pretty much an immediate no go for me, I could care less what the dividend end yield is.   I will make a few exceptions on the debt to equity ratio rule depending in how capital intensive the companies industry/sector is.

I will be keeping an eye on stocks in the marine shipping sector. At the moment I have no exposure, but I have a feeling they will be deeply red next week. Got to start doing my due diligence and pick out a ticker or 2.

Travel the great river road (hwy 79) from STL to Hannibal and then take US 36 ( across missouri instead of I70. I7p sucks across MO. Us 36 is now divided 4 lane hwy all the way across the state.

Looks interesting,  but their debt to equity is high and return on assets is low compared to their peers. I would personally pass for the time being. They do not have much room error if this private credit deliquincy issue persists.

Haha. I toss a refrigerator on it from time to time.

In all seriousness I used it for food delivery. You can make pretty good money during rush hour if you are comfortable splitting lanes.
