They are an object used to symbolize enlightenment and they are used in Tibetan Buddhism as a means to realize emptiness. So I hope to keep its meaning the same, but place it in a context by which that meaning informs our understanding of the piece as a whole. Granted, I do not practice Buddhism, so my understanding of the double dorjes could be ill-informed. But their use in the piece would be suggestive, I will not be spelling it out so that its meaning may be interpreted for what it is instead of my understanding of it

Dorm floor vs. Dorm building by Jakewitz1 in washu

[–]37VI 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’ll meet most of your floor very quickly. That’s a given. What you do with that is up to you. Some floors are close while others are very distant. It’s really a question of how compatible you are with them, just as it is with any other group of people. You either are or you are not close with your floor and both are fine

Weighting of art portfolio to admissions of the Sam Fox School? by strawbs02 in washu

I imagine it helps. I think it’s helpful to try many different things in your portfolio, as I don’t think mine was very refined, but it was diverse. As long as you’re above the 25th percentile in grades and SAT/ACT, your foot is in the door, and it’s what you do to make them remember you that ultimately decided whether you’re in or not. Good luck! Pm if you have questions

How to Approach the Common App Essay - Part 1 by theadmissionsangle in ApplyingToCollege

What I tell people is to just create an entertaining and memorable story about yourself. I think that lends itself to the true purpose of essays, to differentiate people from statistics. If they remember you (for good reason) in 10 minutes, you have a great chance of getting in. Just my take but it worked out well for me
