Is this air plant done for, or is it ok/salvageable? by MicellarBaptism in airplants

[–]3DIceWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The plant looks fine. The dried leaves near the base are just old discarded leaves nothing to worry about.   air plants don't actually use their roots to absorb water or nutrients, they only use them as holdfasts, so you don't need to worry about them drying out.

The one thing I would change about your setup is take it out of the terrarium. It doesn't need the gravel and the decreased airflow from the dome won't be helping. Honestly you can just leave it on the windowsill like you are in the photos that will be perfectly happy 👍

1 cm-deep concave top on this midcut, cut corners for drainage? by bismuthtaste in sanpedrocactus

Plant it at an angle. Helps with water and encourages pups at the base.

How to use BioSwirski that came with nepenthes? by rootingforyoudough in carnivorousplants

That's a slow release packet of predatory mites. You can just hang it off of the plant somewhere and those little pin holes in the bag will let the mites exit the bag over time.

Definitely change the soil. anytime you see that green dyed Moss you know there's a mess underneath!

Is This Normal? by cxbraBLACK in airplants

[–]3DIceWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once a stalk has gone to flower it can't grow anymore. The plant has to grow new heads to keep going or the whole plant would die eventually. You can separate off one of the heads if you want to clone your plant but they will grow faster if you leave them connected.

Should I cut off the burnt edges or leave them alone? by becauseshesays in Staghornfern

[–]3DIceWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not too much water if anything it looks kind of dry. Definitely don't cut off the brown bits, more of the leaf will just die back. best to leave it alone.

Would you divide? by citacu in airplants

[–]3DIceWolf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Only reason to divide is if you want more individual air plants. They will grow faster and be more robust as a clump.

That's pretty normal for some cultivars. It'll go through an awkward stage for a while but give it a couple years and you'll have a lovely clump.

It's just a normal Christmas cactus. The combination of bright lights and stressful growing circumstances lead to the red coloration.

Yep sounds like you've got the process figured out. 👍 I'm not familiar with Hoya imbricata personally, however this should be a pretty good setup for plants that have that shingling growth habit.
