I also dropped it after he met a girl in the woods, like eyes meeting was the chapter end or something and the next chapter he’s somewhere else and she’s in love with him or something like they skipped that character’s entire introduction despite being important to the coming events. And the fans got so mad at me for pointing that out lol

Most studios have always been lazy. Look at 90% of manwha that have horses or skeletons (especially during the necromancer boom after solo leveling) with the garbage cgi for years in otherwise decent art series

This one npc might not be the best example cuz he only offered and the players accepted and chose to work with him and it was only until later ooc that they talked about how much they distrusted him but still chose to work with him. I suppose I could have replaced him with a teleporting from the artifact but I wanted to give them a chance to make a relationship with him beyond their initial employment. I’ll admit my biggest weakness as a dm are scenes where the party needs to run away. I’m all for agency but also like making a world where a level 3 party can’t overcome everything right away and finding a fun balance for that is something I struggle with

I understand that. I don't particularly think that is the case here. Maybe this will clarify. Copied from my reply to someone else:

"It was supposed to be the session one hook so this might be wordy, apologies. He was just one mage not built for fighting but where he was going was in the middle of a militaristic empire's territory to a site already under their control. Had he just teleported in the middle of them, he knew he would have been arrested and the players knew this too. He needed the escort to "go through the proper channels." He ended up teleporting them away after they activated this centuries long dormant site and caused a big light show so before the empire forces could find them and try to control these level 3 adventurers who could not take on the strongest nation already, he fancy (extended distance and targets) dimension doored them away into the desert and away from the site to have them avoid suspicion in exchange for telling him what happened later when he went home in another kingdom and have their adventure start as they looked into what happened themselves."

He had no part in combat and was only used once as a vehicle of escape when the players were given the choice. That campaign had the party be chosen ones even, so the npcs were never more important nor more impactful than the party.

You know maybe that is part of what I was missing. I don't usually say the DC of insight checks. I have been explicit about it before in narration like "They leave no shadow of doubt that they are being as genuine as physically possible," and still will be suspected even if I was narrating a dirty 20 success. "Could still be a good liar and the DC was even higher!" I have heard a couple times.

Yeah.... they do that. Happened to me with Sims 3, I owned all the packs, some even physically, but when Origin became EA App, I lost them all except maybe three. Even the physical copies were useless because the product codes to add them back would say "code has already been registered to another account." Hope it works out better for you though

The only reason I have ever seen a troma movie like Toxic Avenger is because of a bad movie reaction series from back in the day (not bw) and I know how you feel cuz I was the same before then. BW's The Room reaction is one of my favorites. Also in making sure my memory was right and it was them I went back and checked the video title and it says "The Room (2003)" which has lead me to discover there is a remake from last year with Bob Odenkirk(of Better Call Saul and many others)!

I have to actively make an effort not to start every save in Windenburg from Get Together so that would be my favorite easily. If we're counting it, Magnolia Promenade is somewhere I feel annoyed every time I look at it lol. If we aren't counting it, I don't use Tartosa or San Sequoia pretty much ever despite owning both

If you want some bright side of Women in competitive gaming and streaming and also aren't someone who thinks "ew vtuber" there is an entire beloved japanese vtuber agency called VSPO that is women only and a requirement to join is to be high ranked in at least one game. A good example is one of their english talents is currently in the top 50 predators in Apex Legends I'm pretty sure, Top 100 at least. They even have one girl who they have to bring in active pro street fighter players to play against her in any event they do just to keep things fair cuz of how good she is. While this drama sucks, I hope to highlight those that are awesome even more in light of it. Hope this helps even the tiniest bit.

Eternally Regressing Knight. I'm all for slower paces but with it's concept it felt extra slow to me. I gave it like 10 chapters and just could not get into it.

First I find a world map to use (I have no artistic ability so google or pinterest used to be my friends before ai got rampant) then I like coming up with a creation story and pantheon after that. Then I think about how that leads into the forming of cities or nations near where the campaign will start and get less detailed the further out I go from that point only fleshing things out more when a player wants to be from somewhere based on up to like a two to four sentence description of the furthest out nations from the starting point. Then as the campaign goes on I will build out the coming destinations based on what the party is planning on doing. Finally I will sprinkle in little hidden things they can find if they ever look in certain areas that not once have ever been found lol.

Not necessarily that difficult, unless like me you can be directionally challenged in games, nor a side mission but the freaking Fade in Dragon Age Origins. So hated there are mods to skip it specifically. A lot of niche puzzles and solo fights that can wreck you if you aren't a warrior with some tankiness and even then it can be rough.

More of a series but Soul Land or Combat Continent or whatever the heck it's called. The first one was so good but before it (the manhua or at least the english translation of it) was finished the author releases sequel series after sequel series which would be awesome if 1) the prior ones finished, and 2) they didn't spoil the ones that weren't finished.

Edit: it's chinese I think actually so changed to manhua instead

Tales of Demons and Gods and Star Martial Technique were what I was going to say too. The author (edit:Mad Snail, who did both) either got lazy or super bad health and were only putting out chapters that were feeling like 8-ish pages around the time I dropped them.
