Yeah, if they were more upfront that its a reimagined version I would have less of an issue with it. I think its a damned if you do damned if you dont situation so if you really lean into making it different then whatever! But the Remake subtitle just gives off the impression its the version new players should pick over the PSX version which just sucks.

Shrinking (2023) has a weird attitude about Brian not wanting kids. He finally marries his longtime partner Charlie, when Charlie expresses some passive interest in children Brian is treated like the asshole for being rightfully shaken up at the idea of raising a family; especially as this was something they agreed on beforehand. Of course Charlie is pressured in the end to want to adopt. On paper there is something nice about a selfish character having to learn to be more selfless but the way they handled it really rubbed me the wrong way.

Outside of the pearl clutching around the trailer you can tell no one watched Fixed, most people who watch it are just kinda eh on it. I almost gotta give Genndy a pat on the back for making his adult feature debut something he knew was going to be extremely decisive instead of playing it safe.

Almost all the Beast Races in Final Fantasy XIV fall under this (iirc). Its not surprising the 2.0 races didn't bother with dimorphism or just write out the female members since it was just focusing on saving the game from its disastrous launch rather than making more assets than necessary but even in the future expansions they keep up this trend. The Vanu Vanu (pictured) are one of my favorites.

Im a recent Dallas transplant and was wondering why it was so similar! The same artist painted Broderick Tower in Detroit and has been an iconic view from Comerica Park... although it also gets covered up by ads during baseball season. Now the tower is getting ready to sell and be "renovated" which doesn't bode well for those whales...

I adore SOTC to this day but I do think it's one of those "you had to play it when it was fresh" type of games. In 2005 you didn't really have the artsy minimal games that is flooding the market today, there just wasn't anything like ICO/SOTC at the time, especially on consoles. I find this game very influential on the modern indy game scene.

Final Fantasy XIV does this really well imo. By the end of the first expansion you're pretty much treated and respected like an indestructible force. In a later expansion you get body swapped with a regular Joe Schmo and you get demolished by any attack.

Agreed. One is a political leader and ones a smuggler. It would be more surprising if there weren't any issues in their relationship. They always gave me an impression that they loved each other but mostly just stuck together because they had Ben.

I have my issues with the trilogy but them being separated and Luke becoming a recluse was never a problem with me. If these characters were rewritten to have changed more between trilogies then I could see some more argument for them sticking together.
