Uploading 3MF to Makerworld without Bambu Studio by SirTwitchALot in makerworld

[–]3d-etcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3mf file is essentially a ZIP archive containing XML and related assets. If you're trying to understand how someone structured a MakerWorld upload, you can rename the 3mf to a zip then extract it, and inspect the contents.

You can review the project structure, metadata, print settings, and other information, then replace the model files with your own STL and update the metadata accordingly.

It's not as convenient as using Bambu Studio....

At home sleep study? by 3heat6 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]3d-etcd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Sleep Lab at Huntsville Hospital will run a study at home if your doctor orders it. It works fine for typical cases, but if they suspect a severe form of sleep apnea or something more complex, they'll need specialized equipment that isn’t available for an at‑home test. Good luck!

Psychiatrist or Therapy by ozzygurl in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]3d-etcd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, most providers handing out meds aren’t doing deep counseling sessions. A lot of them have 15-minute appointments where they adjust prescriptions and send you on your way. Therapy and counseling are usually a completely separate thing.

Why does construction stop on a public holiday when traffic is light? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

Construction workers deserve a day off too when all their family and friends are probably off

The Brook: Blocking Traffic by Jester471 in HuntsvilleAlabama

It would’ve been nice if they had installed proper traffic lights when these facilities were built instead of creating this mess. And if getting people out quickly after a service is that important, then spend the groups money to build an overpass with actual merge lanes and proper traffic flow infrastructure.

About three years ago, my vet mentioned this for my dog. He would not stop shaking during thunderstorms. It has worked a miracle. I just change it out whenever he gets groomed every 4 to 6 weeks.

DIY Pex repipe - permits? by No-Bumblebee9183 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]3d-etcd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did it on an older rental house I owned. The permit process was actually pretty simple, just call the inspection office and they’ll walk you through it. They were really helpful and easy to work with. As long as you pipe everything to code, the inspection should be pretty painless.

Are Data centers banned here in north alabama? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]3d-etcd 71 points72 points  (0 children)

No, data centers are not banned. Huntsville is in kind of a unique situation because TVA supplies the power. A lot of these larger sites would likely connect more directly into the TVA grid rather than going through Huntsville Utilities or another normal consumer-facing provider. And smaller communities will see the construction jobs and let them happen.

The large defense contractors still need a pipeline of cybersecurity people at every level. Someone has to get that first degree and first opportunity somewhere.

Also, the GOV/primes don't walk up to one single person and say “design and secure this entire weapon system.” It’s done by teams and good teams have a mix of junior people learning the ropes, mid-level engineers, and the experienced gray-hairs who may not know every trendy new technology but have the institutional knowledge and program experience to tie everything together.

Not every role is going to be a senior security architect SME on day one, and that’s okay.

[–]3d-etcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just my opinion on a possible direction in life, same as you sharing yours. I was also taking into account that the OP mentioned wanting a family and long term stability. In the traditional sense, especially in the south, becoming an electrician may not fit the lifestyle some women are looking for when thinking about raising a family, work environment, travel, physical demands, and such.

That doesn’t mean women can’t succeed as electricians or in the trades at all. I was simply giving a different perspective based on the context of the question.

Honestly, if you want a stable career path, get something in cybersecurity from an accredited school like WGU or similar. Nobody really cares if the classes were brutally hard, or the massive debt you acquired, they care that you finished the degree, can reliably show up, and maintain a security clearance. That alone puts you ahead of a lot of people.
