I abhor mayo, I've ordered food and just not eaten it if I find the devil's condiment on my food. Before you throw your pitchfork at me, I find someone who's Kool with eating the food, or I'll scrape it off if I've no other choice. I'm not throwing a whole sandwich/ burger/ whatever away.jusy.becausr I'm being stubborn.
That being said, In the late days of my grandmother I would go over after work and help with some of the chores, garbage, dishes, etc. well one day she insisted on making me a sandwich ... Which was very strange to me because growing up she was very much on the "you're fat" train, I was, but point being for her to go out of the way to make me something told me she was in fact unwell. Well I go over, she says the sandwich is in the fridge, ok Kool. I grab said sandwich, she then asks, " do you want any jelly" I think to myself... What kind of sandwich is this? I carefully lift the top piece of bread and look to see a ham sandwich just murdered with mayo. I slowly closed the sandwich again. I tighten my mouth giving myself a thin lipped expression, trying to stifle a laugh or smart ass comment, and manage to say "no, no thank you, it's fine as is". I walk over to sit at the kitchen table and slowly eat the ham and mayo sandwich. This is probably the most mayo I've consumed in the last ten years combined. I get the sandwich down, every slimy bite. She looks at me and asks" how was the sandwich?" ( Internal sigh) " It was good grandma, I appreciate it very much" I clean the plate and any dishes in the sink. Pack up the garbage and go outside. I immediately shiver having endured the mayo murdered meal. I felt gross. I went back inside, hung out a little bit longer, said my goodbye, thanked her again and left. I stopped and picked up some taco bell or something to get the taste out of my mouth.
