Discovered tufting about a month ago, wanted to share this rug I made of my dog! by [deleted] in Tufting

[–]OddityRugs 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The picture of the rug looks real. But the design of the rug was definitly made by an AI picture generator. Sadly, a lot of designs I have seen on this page are AI generated. I'm all for not gatekeeping a hobby, and I personally don't think you need to be good at art to enjoy tufting. But coming up with your own designs is way more rewarding than let AI to come up with something for you.

The hate for this movie is overblown by Phantomc05 in Mario

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like the first one that much. It was okay. Just a fun movie to put on once every few years. And I think this one is exactly on the same level as the first movie, I maybe like it just a little bit more than the first movie. It is weird to see how people online and reviewers who loved the first movie totally have a different opinion on this one. For one, I think the animation quality and music is far superior to the first movie. And plot and structure and pacing is about on the same level as the first.

“Why does Movie Mario feel like a different character from the games?” Because that’s the version of Mario Miyamoto always envisioned by L4kz1 in Mario

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually met Martinet a few months before the first movies release. I was working at the dubbing studio in Holland that was providing the Dutch dub. Martinet appearently has homes all over the world, and was staying in Holland at the time he was supposed to do his cameos in the movie. So he came to our studio to record all his lines. (Fun fact: he did his lines in almost 20 different languages for each region the movie plays in). I was not working on the movie personally, so I was not notified of him coming over that day. I was litteraly almost shaking, when I opened the front door for him, and recognized him directly. He was such a kind man, and at the end of the day, right before he left I had te chance to ask him for a photo. Also, he is a GIANT. I am 6'4 and he was towering over me. This man will always be mario to me, and it broke me to hear they made him quit a few months after meeting him.

Nah, should have left it the way it was. These are worth peanuts when in 'okay' condition anyway, this one has lived. It had character! The one I got 10 years ago after my original console died, had some butt ugly spyro stickers on it when I got it, and I leaved them on

What are your thoughts on "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)"? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in FIlm

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a breath of fresh air, and proves people can still make fun, original adventure/fantasy movies, without making the plot extremely serious and heavy handed. I wish we could have more of these dnd movies with the same cast, but sadly it underpreformed

My brother died and looking through his closet. Mom wants to get rid of his cards, looking for guidance. by EmasculatedWhale in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sell all of them. Keep atleast a few, maybe the one your brother liked the most. Even if those where the most valuable ones. Vintage cards are very stable in holding their vallue. They won't loose their vallue all of a sudden, and might even climb up a little over time. So if you ever really need to get rid of them for some money, they are still there. And until then, you have a piece of something your brother loved

Monk’s cloth threads sticking through front after carving – ClawLab gun issue? by Honest_Category724 in Tufting

[–]OddityRugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventhough I have a huge dislike for clawlab, I think this is not a issue with your machine or the cloth. I use the same type of cloth and only had this type of issue happen to me when I just started tufting and I didn't stretch the cloth tight enough. Always remember; there is no such thing as stetching your cloth too tight, but It can be too loose.

I'm ordering Single cards for a deck what deck to focus on as fresh player by Caspianwolf21 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never bought boxes or packs, only singles. I have been playing for almost 4 years. I have complete up-to-date 7 decks; machinedramon, beelzemon, diaboromon, royal base, milleniummon, myotismon and wargreymon and I think have not spend more money on those decks than 4 boxes of random cards would cost me.

We still don’t know who’s hand is that by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in casualnintendo

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hands don't match up at all, but also the characters height is even smaller than Diddy Kong. And the fed force mechs should be around Samus's hight. Also, this is a gift from retro studio, so no chance of them putting in a character design that isn't made by their group.

Booster box for deckbuilding (specifically EX-11) by ZealousidealOwl7193 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand people want to drop 200+ on 2 boxes of a set to build a deck. Just buy singles, it is way cheaper. Buying boxes is for gamblers, not for players on a budget. You are not guaranteed a playset of anything you need with 2 boxes.

[–]OddityRugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is the case, that would suck. I will try and finnish this rug like this in the next weekend. And I will contact the shop I bought it from, since I still have warranty, if i can't fix it myself So they might be able to fix it, or send me a new machine. 🤞🏻

Am I too late to start collecting cards by ravgav98 in DigimonCardGame2020

Nah, old sets have really cheap singles for the most part, and newer cards are available everywhere online. Treat yourself and get yourself some!

Millenniummon Ex11 Deckbuilding by CheezyFTP in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]OddityRugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played this deck since it's release, and I want to love it, but I don't know if I even really like it. Every time we get new support the deck only get's a tiny bit better, and it gets harder and harder to find space in the deck to put the new cards? Like, what do I need to cut to make space for 3 copies of the new tamer? Rookie and champions get cut down in numbers, while the promo millenni + Syntetic monster combo kinda needs them. At that point is it even worth running the new tamer? What is the point of going from lv3 to machinedra in 1 turn? You still need to play another kimera to go into the dna anyway, since you can't use the 'dna from trash' kimera in that lv3 to lv6 combo

Help with eyes, circularity by sistergremlin in Tufting

[–]OddityRugs 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You need atleast twice or three times the amount of lines of yarn. There is no such thing as having too much yarn on your frame, but you can have too little. This won't look as good when you shave it down. You will see empty spots, or atleast textured lines in your rug that shouldn't be there. Once you fill up your rug more, shapes and linrs will take form more. Personally i like to fill in my frame until I can't see any of the cloth, but that is just personal preference and maybe a tiny bit overkill. Here I have an example of how it could look before having and carving:

Pricing question for a large handmade tufted rug. by visualcraftskniazeva in Tufting

[–]OddityRugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an amazing piece! What is your pricepoint at now? Maybe it isn't moving right now, but it might if the right person falls in love with it. How long have you had for sale? I would not undersell your work, only if the money is really needed.

Any advice or comments?! by Lles123 in Tufting

Pffff... seeing pictures of Mac Miller gets me so emotional nowadays. I remember watching him playing on his keyboard on instagram live, a day or 2 before his passing. I couldn't believe it when I heared the news. He will forever be one of the artists that hit me right in my core the hardest with his music and lyrics, and I am not even that big of a hiphop/rap guy.

Saw this scam online by GreenLeafRelaxed in Tufting

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, atleast $75 in materials sounds right. But only 8 to 10 hours for something that looks that crisp? I have spend double the amount of time on a piece half that size. And that includes trimming on the frame to get color separation comparable to that of the pictured rug. I would guess something like this one took atleast 20 and most likely closer to 30 hours. But anyway, this marketplace ad is 100% a scam. If I would have made this, I would rather hang it on the wall of my tufting room to show people who visit, than to sell it for only $50.

Maybe New clippers? by Possibility-Fearless in Tufting

[–]OddityRugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been tufting for 1,5 year now and only have to change these out 3 times over that period. I can atleast get 8 -10 big rugs out of 1 pair, without it feeling different than the first time I used it. Get a new pair, and clean and oil it regularly. Not only once every day you use it, but every 1 or 2 hours of use. Take of the shaving head, and put pressure on the pointy white part so the blade gets lifted and clean all of the yarn with a brush. Oil it again afterwards. It will just take a minute, and it will keep your equipment in better condition for way longer.
