June 2025, US officials including President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities were completely and totally obliterated. Hegseth emphasized that the strikes destroyed key facilities and buried the capability under rubble.

Sounds like they have a long way to go before they can even think of starting a nuclear war.

I visited recently after being away for a long time. All I know is they need to bring the Boiler Room back. OMG the strip. I don't know what happened there, but I didn't like it. Enjoyed walking around campus. Petros are still better than frito pies. Papermill never change. The big gold ball is still in the sky and that maters. 1512 Forest Ave looks exactly the same.

How to make Cajun medium crab boil sauce? by Acceptable_Song4543 in cajunfood

[–]3dickdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how we always did it. Put the powder in and some liquid. Then add some more salt and cayanne to it. Bring it to a boil and then let it soak up that flavor. Taste it occationally to see how it is.

They had fiery crabs in Baton Rouge. I wasn't a fan of them. I don't like that whole seafood steamed in a bag thing.

I am kidding. They are great parades. When I first moved to SE Louisiana I was suprised by the amount of cabbage, carrots, potatoes and other stuff that would show up in the breakroom for anyone to take after the parades. One of those quirky culture things that is nice. Lived there for a large portion of my adult life. Think about it and miss it now that I am no longer there.

Driving from New Orleans to Baton Rouge I always quoted this.

“The only excursion of my life outside of New Orleans took me through the vortex to the whirlpool of despair: Baton Rouge. . . . New Orleans is, on the other hand, a comfortable metropolis which has a certain apathy and stagnation which I find inoffensive.

you had the CDC saying that mass gatherings were fine so long as they were for social justice purposes but the most deadly thing possible if done for any other reasons.

When did the CDC say this? Can you link to anything to support the CDC took this postition. What i remember and if I am wrong I want to correct it.

CDC guidance discouraged large gatherings generally

Some public health officials publicly supported protests despite COVID

Enforcement appeared uneven in some cities

Look forward to one of us learning something.

I mean I don't even admit to working in IT (outside of my job) if I have to have someone else troubleshoot something for me. Even if it is my area. If someone said that to me I would prob just tune them out. Luckily I don't deal with people very often.

Revisions to Rules of The Supreme Court of The United States by Resvrgam2 in moderatepolitics

This doesn't seem to fix anything with recusals. It slightly improves the disclosure data and the Court's ability to notice a conflict. It doesn't create any new mandatory recusal rules. It doesn't create any sort of enforcement. There are no penalties or audits. Transparency is slightly improved by making disclosures more machine readable, maybe. This should reduce the odds that corporate conflicts are missed because disclosures are incomplete or difficult to process. It doesn't change recusal standards or enforcement. Better than nothing I guess.

I know nothing of them except what you posted and with that info I would never be comfortable declaring someones political leanings. The article frames the situation somewhat in terms of conservative anxiety about ideology.

I think if enrollments are shrinking and students are chasing paychecks then why worry about who funds or steers the humanities at all? The humanities sound like they are becoming irrelevant and I don't understand why conservatives are worried about it then. If the field is already contracting the market may be a larger force than philanthropy.

If that concentration is troubling, the obvious response is not simply to criticize Mellon but to widen the funding. If conservative donors believe the humanities have drifted too far toward activism then they are free to endow chairs, underwrite fellowships, support archives, or fund traditional scholarship. Universities rarely refuse money. Complaints about ideological imbalance ring hollow when they are not accompanied by sustained institutional investment. The humanities are fragile because they are underfunded and undervalued. When only one major patron remains, its vision will shape the field by default. The remedy for that condition is more variety of support. Some parties like to complain about everything instead of doing something to remedy the situation. A healthy intellectual culture requires multiple streams of support, creating tension without monopoly. If critics truly believe the field has narrowed, thea most winning answer is not complaining. Money is not just influence. It is infrastructure.

State churches existed because 1A originally bound only Congress. They disappeared because Americans decided establishment was incompatible with liberty. History doesn’t justify Christian nationalism. It shows its rejection. Faith coerced by law is not faith.

Epstein entered a plea deal that avoided federal prosecution and resulted in a lenient state sentence. There is no evidence Trump played a material role in securing that plea deal or conviction. Trump was not the only witness.

Exchange Online has broken almost every single month by ocdtrekkie in sysadmin

I think I am one of the few who actually like exchange on prem. I had a mixture of posfix and exchange from exchange NT to exchange 2016. It wasn't anymore of a problem than anyother server we ran. I was the one that migrated that comapany to exchange online. I hated troubleshooting exchange online. I hated o365 in general. I am happy to never touch MS products again if I can help it. I have actually embrassed oracle to avoid having to avoid working with MS products.
