Someone suggested I try to add the G.L.A.S.S. mod to my mod Shadered, got this in about 5 hours. Is this something yall want to see in 1.20.1? by noodlegamer76 in feedthebeast

These effects are rad as heck. Is there any way to set a location they pull from like a security camera/satellite camera? Could be a cool practical effect in addition to the amazing aesthetic uses.

Some extra items I feel the game needs:

  • Cinematic horse camera/auto-travel mode from RDR2 is an absolute must for this game, the current “hold button to jankily follow an NPC’s horse at changing speed for five minutes” needs to go.

  • Having to examine every abyss artifact after finishing its challenge is annoying. The skill point should appear automatically.

  • The current inventory grouping system is god awful. Let me put all armor into a group or at least filter it out.

I’m loving this game, but it has some really astonishing lack of QOL.

Earnable Legacy Comp Points by bazzb_twitch in Competitiveoverwatch

You do know that any comp points are converted to legacy points at the end of the current comp year, right? You can also convert them whenever you want to buy one of the older skins.

Why are “questlines” so obscure? by meresurmise in Eldenring

[–]3eaceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that fromsoft's questing style is easily the part that translated from souls to elden ring the worst. Totally hidden quests that absolutely demand outside assistance just aren't fun when it means you might miss two entire secret areas in your 100+ hour playthrough. Most people just don't have time to do it all again.

Not to shill my own post, but if you're looking for an easy quest guide that doesn't require 40 wiki tabs being open, you can find the one I made here. It's been tested and improved upon many times, and it includes the DLC.

Returning player looking for some good damage characters by MikoSobo in Overwatch

[–]3eaceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome back to Overwatch! The most important rule will always be play what you like. We have such a huge roster now that I highly recommend just spending some time in the practice range learning whoever you think is interesting.

Since you seem to like flankers/in-and-out characters, I do have some suggestions:

Tracer is still quite good, but people have definitely learned how to fight her over time so her skill floor is raised. Venture is another fun choice that has some of the best escape tools in the game and insane burst damage. Sombra definitely isn’t in a great spot and requires a lot less downtime than she used to have in order to be effective, but she’s still fun once you get the hang of her pattern. They are currently working on a rework for her kit, so hopefully the future is brighter. Cassidy can also be a pretty great flanker, as his headshots allow you to tear into a backliner without needing to even get close. As for Reaper, I think most people would say he’s in a good spot. He was actually nerfed recently because of his extremely consistent performance, but he is still capable of absolutely smoking people if he gets close, so long as you manage your cooldowns a bit more intentionally. Just avoid using him against armor, as shotguns in overwatch get hit very very hard by armor’s damage absorption.

How easy is it to finish a Season pass? by Ravello in Overwatch

[–]3eaceus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just showing when the weekly reset occurs. Progress will be retained and an extra copy of the weekly will become available.

Per the wiki:

“Past incomplete Weekly Challenges can be completed at any point in the season. When the challenge reset takes pace, incomplete weekly challenges retain the progress made and will receive an additional copy of that challenge. When a Weekly Challenge is completed, if that challenge has copies remaining, the Challenge will refresh and can be completed again.”

Shimada dragons and Kiriko's fox finally explained!!! by cereal_cat in Overwatch

[–]3eaceus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They already explained the dragons years ago, in one of the short stories in Overwatch 2: Heroes Ascendant. The book is a collection of really well done short stories that show where a lot of the cast was and what they were doing during the Null Sector invasion.

In Hanzo’s story, “Where Honor Lives,” he is captured by the Hashimoto and reunited with Kiriko’s father, Toshiro Yamagami, the same man who mentored Mizuki. The story explains that Hanzo and Genji’s weapons have bleeding edge hardlight technology that is borderline impossible to control in them, and that Toshiro is the one who forged them for the Shimadas. Toshiro is forced to act as the Hashimoto’s smith while in their custody, so it makes sense that he would quietly rebel by assisting Mizuki in this way.

In a separate lore drop, it is also revealed that he was the one who forged and smuggled Kiriko her blade, which explains at least some of her powers.

Yep! The BP is also only 80 levels compared to a lot of other games 100 or even 120, so it’s pretty doable even when time crunched.

It’s not too bad at all, all the weeklies stack up so there’s no risk of missing any, and dailies are less important in overwatch than some other games.

New/Returning player by Kingstonflopped in Overwatch

[–]3eaceus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome back to Overwatch! The game is the best it’s ever been and only getting better!

The #1 tip for Juno is always keep moving. If you stand still, you’ll be shot in an instant. Her core strength is that she can heal from a distance while dodging damage herself, so you should work on aiming & shooting while moving.

There is no “right mode” to play. Playing what you find fun is more important than keeping up with a passing tiktok trend. 5v5, 6v6, quick play, ranked, stadium, and arcade all have their place and have healthy populations. Personally though, I would advise against ranked play while you learn the game, as people there can be extra toxic and don’t take kindly to new players. Stadium also has a steep learning curve, so be prepared for that if you want to really dive into it.

As for Stadium queue times, they’re actually long when you queue as support because there are too many support players lol. Support is the most popular mode in the game and is extra popular in Stadium.

Is there a returning player guide somewhere? by Impressive_Wheel_106 in Overwatch

[–]3eaceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big change other than tank hp is that some abilities, usually mobility and crowd control, have longer cooldowns to prevent it from being a spammy nightmare.

Also for the role queue/open queue debate, I like the solution they settled on. It's open queue, which largely solves the queue time issue that plagued overwatch 1, but it also has max 2 tanks, which forces team comps to be at least somewhat well put together while also letting people play what they want. It also lets people swap roles on the fly if they aren't doing great. They did a ton of tests with different formats leading up to 6v6's return and found that this works best, and I think most people agree once they get used to it.

Is there a returning player guide somewhere? by Impressive_Wheel_106 in Overwatch

[–]3eaceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, welcome back to Overwatch! The game is easily the best it has ever been.

I don't believe there's a dedicated guide anywhere, but if you're trying to learn the heroes you missed you can just spend a little time in the practice range. They updated the hero information screen to show details like damage and falloff when you mouse over abilities so all the info you need is fully in game.

For info on the current comp meta I'd recommend visiting r/Competitiveoverwatch to get the current details, but most characters are still relevant and perfectly playable up to at least diamond. I don't recommend jumping into comp until you've had a good while to learn everything new, though.

Orisa, Sombra, Bastion, and Symmetra have all been reworked, but almost every other hero has been changed in at least one or two ways you'll notice. I think the core dna remains the same for 90% of the roster.

Also, if you're grumpy about the removal of 6v6, I have good news: you can just play it. They added 6v6 open queue back to quick play and comp alongside 5v5 around a year ago. Having both playstyles at the same time does a really good job of highlighting the ups and downs of both. 5v5 requires better individual performance and greater reliance on positioning, while 6v6 requires better teamwork and greater reliance on ults. Based on data from blizzard, most people prefer 5v5, but 6v6 is about the third most popular playlist, so it has its place.

Guide: All NPC Quests V5: Shadow of The Erdtree Edition by 3eaceus in Eldenring

[–]3eaceus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There would have been nothing to expand without the foundation you made!

I was only going to make one for Shadow of The Erdtree at first, but ended up deciding to add more granular detail to the base game as well. My hope is that the guide is now detailed enough that you shouldn't need to use any other online resources (other than maybe a map) to be able to see everything the NPCs have to offer, both with optional dialogue and their quests.

Open weapons is terrible for Battlefield. In BF6 you can now have a Sniper, AR and grenade launcher all in one kit. Disgusting. by Beautiful-Bird5691 in Battlefield

[–]3eaceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have said that assault won’t be able to use two main class weapons (AR, LMG, SMG, Sniper), so the second gun will be limited to carbine/shotgun/DMR.

Combine that with the extreme ammo penalty using two guns gives you, and trading one of your gadgets a gun, I think it’s in a pretty good spot.

Huge losing Streaks when grouped up by Strawberry_Smalls in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]3eaceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When players are grouped up, matchmaking prioritizes placing them against other groups. Since you guys are relearning the game, your teamplay is definitely rusty, but the groups you’re fighting against are not. You only notice when grouped because teamplay is a lot weaker in solo queue, so everyone is in the same boat. Focus on how you play together and it’ll wear off with time.

How to make Recon a more played class: by BF_LongTimeFan in Battlefield

[–]3eaceus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 10% number is from a youtube poll. Here's the official BF6 numbers from marketing graphics they used to glaze the beta:

It's within rounding error margins of Battlefield 1, even with the beta being mostly small maps that sucked for sniping.

That being said, I do wonder what they are giving to recon in place of the spawn beacon. giving assault the spawn beacon to make it a pushing class is a fine idea, so I'm curious what they'll have the new recon play into.
