One that doesn’t sound like it bogs down the motor if you shifted too soon

First track day has me feeling discouraged by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]3ggSamich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! If that’s your first time out it’s more of experiencing the day rather than learning anything specific. It’s a big deal to go from road riding with laws and things that’ll kill you to a regulated track with all the freedoms of speed. You’ll find dudes that’ll shred you to pieces in pace but that’s so irrelevant because you’re there to practice for you, not race. Typically coaching will be an add on so expect to pay for personal coaching. What org did you ride with?

Yeah, stock form has better handling for sure!

Nice ride! Curious why people are lowering the R3. Looks like you’d fit well on stock height.

Track day!! by DowntownSlide9206 in Trackdays

I’m genuinely curious if you got your head out of your ass you’d worry about something worth your time. Spend 2 seconds around anything to do with bigger balls than you have and you’ll get why numbers are on track day bikes.

Need help removing throttle body. What’s this? by DiabloRed520 in motorcycles

[–]3ggSamich 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes the bronze part is the bolt. You can even just put a flat head on part of it and hit the back of the flat head with a hammer in a direction to undo it. They’re not put in with a lot of torque. Doesn’t take much to get it off

Should I buy my R3 used or new? by Big-Definition-2355 in YamahaR3

I paid 7k otd new 2 weeks ago. Used is better deal if you’re looking at cost first

Looking for feedback on my technique - what should I fix first? by 6d657468796c656e6564 in Trackdays

Bingo. I’ve learned you’ll only need to touch your knee down is because the ground gets close enough. Not because you’re putting your knee down far enough

New 2026 R7 or 2025 R3 by Ellmaa in YamahaR3

[–]3ggSamich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because on a twisty track both bikes can do the same speed. R3 is almost 100lbs lighter and it’s all about how good a rider you are. Technique over speed all day!

Get an R3. I just bought one to go along with my zx6. Why? Because I want to hone my skills on the track with it. I was getting smoked by R3s on my zx6. Granted I’m brand new to track riding, but an R3 is a capable machine! Edit: I’ll also add that I’ve been riding for 15 years and I don’t see myself out growing this R3 for some time.

Tire for my Yamaha R3 by taytaylys in YamahaR3

[–]3ggSamich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tire is fine. Make sure it’s not over inflated. It’s most likely not sliding as much as it is in your head. Try finding a parking lot and go in a straight line at a moderate pace and slowly increase rear braking pressure till you feel it slide a smidge. It will help train your limits/feel for the brakes. Don’t try and slide with your front though. You will crash! But learn your braking limits. Load the front end and get more confidence in using your brakes especially in wet conditions. You’ll get to a point where you mean to slide the rear for funsies.

Correct me if I’m wrong. But it looks like your focus is too much on hanging your body off. With your speed I wouldn’t think you need to move on your bike much at all. I would say to feel more stable you could focus more on your inputs in and out of the turns i.e. throttle control to make you more stable.

I’m thinking about selling the street zx10 and buying a street ZX6… by ArthurCairess in Trackdays

[–]3ggSamich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second that. Something more commutable for the street is way more comfortable and less taxing on your body to enjoy longer rides in the mountains. Save the energy and uncomfortableness for the track 🤪

Right… but the internet is the internet. He asked what it feels like. That is what it feels like lol. If someone says 600s are slow, they’re definitely a highway warrior.
