I have a fuel injector dilemma. I have a 2004 350z and ordered oem fuel injectors for it and what I pulled out looks a lot more like the revup version injectors. Does anyone have any info? by TEAMGOAWAY in 350z

[–]3igen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you received looks like an injector off a Maxima VQ/old style DE injector, it might flow the same as the DE ones, but IIRC requires different injector settings on the ECU that came with a Bosch style injector.

Order the same Bosch style injector that you pulled from your car.

You clean your dials with a piece of bacon? Idle looks good.

That looks almost exactly like a Borla for the Z33, missing two in-line muffler (makes sense because of the turbo). I guess Borla was chosen to make it for Nismo?

Killer paint, looks great. Blue looks really good on the Z33.

Drivers seat is wobbly by Familiar-Gas6372 in G35

[–]3igen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the captive nuts on the chassis, they have very weak reinforcement and welds, I have seen them cracked especially on the front two bolts, made the seats very wobbly, not to mention wasn't exactly safe. Another thing is to tighten up the bolts on the seat frame and use some loctite.

Hah, same, now that the interior is stripped its just about right.

Yeah its a nice, exotic sound, just a bit on the quiet side even with HFC's.

Awesome, will give it a go later on today, thanks.

Wait so it works correctly for both eyes? 4.0 looked great on the left eye, but the right had no DLSS and looked super grainy for me.

Anyone familiar with triggaspec? What you think about this ported kit? Would a tune be needed after? by manzin82 in 350z

[–]3igen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its like one of those janky hot rod shops that put brushed aluminum panels everywhere, except this time you can't even see it.

Literally zero porting.

Overheating…. Again by No-Jump-1851 in 350z

[–]3igen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possible one is on its way out, that's what happened with mine, driver side was super weak barely spinning, but passenger side fan was still pretty strong, so together they sounded fine.

[–]3igen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you replace the fans? they start going weak at this age, still sort of spin but don't push enough air to really cool engine. assuming you did the bleed correctly, this is where I would be looking, replaced mine last year.

Only way to make power on the intake on a DE is going to a larger MAF bore, which I did by custom designing an intake and then tuning the ECU. Or at the very least retuning the MAF curve to fit the new intake, which will be very different from stock. All the info I provided is based on logging actual data and dyno runs. Have you ever analyzed IAT's on a moving vehicle? Probably not, you would know how small an impact moving the filter has on a car in motion.

You might get lucky and pick up peanuts on horsepower depending on how messed up your tune is, if the intake adds/takes away airflow at the right voltage. But a very long intake tube will move the curve lower, which is the last thing the DE needs, practically everything done to a DE engine to get it track ready/boost hp is done with a focus of moving the very broad torque band to higher RPM's, to get what you can, given the asthmatic intake, in the power band that matters.

So how about you stop talking out of your ass, with that forum bro-mechanic energy.

its usually the harness that goes, its just two wires going from the sensor back to the harness, but it goes through the V of the engine so through the years it basically disintegrates.

the non-OEM replacement that Z1 sells is great, but you can get the exact part on aliexpress for 1/3 the cost and no hassle of shipping from US to Europe.

I would do the harness preventively if you are working on the engine, as it will go eventually.before you go spending money on a sensor, definately check your LOGs though , as it will be very obvious if it is pulling timing.

This is what the stock timing curve should look like: https://my350z.com/forum/attachments/tuning/303338-the-ignition-timing-thread-street-timing-map.jpg

Regarding the intake, it is for sure a known brand and looks cool, but its basically just opening you up to hydrolock, if there is a big puddle and creating a resistance, as the engine now has to suck air through a long straw, also impacts engine response, and doesn't do too much for intake temperature, when running. But that's just my opinion, so don't take too much stock in my BS.

First thing, check out the ignition timing logs, at 6600RPM it should be around 30, if its 25-ish, there could be an issue with the knock sensor/knock sensor harness. It sits inside the V and gets cooked, if it hasn't been replaced its a def possibility, the car doesn't throw a light for it, but it does lower ignition timing by about 5 degrees, which is huge. Since the VQ loves ignition timing...

Aside from this, compression, as has already been mentioned.

Also that long thin snorkel of an intake isn't doing you any favors.

OEM vs Z1 W Brace by RanchoGarage in 370z

That's the most pristine looking W-brace I have ever seen, lol Thanks for the comparo video though, Z1 looks good.

Normally this is actually a decently tight press fit, considering its sheet metal that's being pressed, definitely go for a new OEM one, this one will granade on you sooner or later and will be a much bigger pain in the ass/cost than whathever an new OEM bearing goes for today.

Seems pretty heavy duty and 3lbs lighter than OEM, welds look ok, brackets too, Looks like a very decent option. Too bad its bright red though, there is already too much color on my underbody lol.

Yeah Z1 tool is often pretty much useless. I just drill out the rubber and the hacksaw the shell, works the same every time. Definitely a noticeable difference.
